What to Buy with $50 eBay Voucher (It Does Not Stack with Discount Code/It Cannot Be Refund if Item Is DOA)

Hi , I did a bit of search in ozb but could not find any good suggestions

Basically I got a $50 eBay voucher which expires soon. I cannot find anything suitable to buy. Either I can buy the item I need somewhere else for a lot cheaper , or it is a good price in eBay with discount code, but it does not stack with voucher I have

What is worse is, this voucher cannot be refund if Item is DOA or if seller is fraud. I had one experience that bought a CPU but seller never post it and disappeared. eBay did not refund the voucher part even order is cancelled

I had one great suggestion earlier, which is use vourcher to buy $50 eBay gift card. It worked , only once(so some of you can try it it is indeed great as gift card can stack with discount code) . Then no longer working.

Instead of wasting this $50 voucher, can I use it to buy something that can be easily resell ?

All suggestions welcome.

Thanks

I used mine on some cheap wine. For $19 delivered, they're the perfect gift for an alcoholic.

Thanks. I dnt drink but I am guessing it can be bought and gift to someone in future.

  • I learned the hard way that $50 ebay voucher cannot be used with other discounts scheme such as ebayplus 20% discount.

I didn't know you can't buy gift card with that voucher so that's news to me.

Also news to me and it worked! Once

  • Some reported good experience if refund occurs.

The voucher has about $40 real value if refund does not happen.

Thanks for letting me know. Not in my case. I guess if it does not auto refund, we would have to waste a lot of time in eBay chatting and their rep does not know too much these days

      • If this is the seller voucher, it doesn't refund under any circumstances. (Including the seller was banned after purchase.)

  • Whilst it might not work with eBay ones, has anyone tried using the voucher to buy Woolworths / Wish gift cards?

      Tried . All failed

      Seller is same: PayPal

      • You must need something. Find something that is local, easy to supply, and never needs a refund. How about some A4 printing paper? :). Something from Officeworks, they seldom accept Discount Code they usually follow the sale price of their stores.

Its a 'free' $50, how can it be cheaper elsewhere, do you also have a $50 'free' voucher for them too?

Put it this way, buy something even if its GASP overpriced in your eyes or forgo the $50 voucher once it expires.

    • Clearly the person that negged doesn't understand maths too well

$70 on ebay - $50 'free' voucher = $20 cost to the OP

      vs

Buying it for $50 elsewhere - no free voucher = $50 cost to the OP

No wonder some people are poor.

Dnt worry Jimmy some ppl just Randomly neg everyone of us :)

        • Hmmm yes it appears so!! Oh well their loss!

The fact it expires "soon" is problem, but all vouchers can be refunded and used again, however their expiry date does not change.

  • Postage stamps? If you send letters, packages etc. it's as good as cash.

eg. You would just need to find a listing for $50 or so though.

Edit: Officeworks sell at face value.

    • Good idea! Except I dnt have anyone to write letters to haha. But maybe can sell them on Gumtree

  • Buy a $50 woolworths voucher - use it on groceries.
And dont wait to the expiry date to use it - I did and it randomly expired during that day without warning before I could use it.
Had to raise a case with Fair Trading NSW to get it back after being brushed off by Ebay customer service…
