Best Clippers for at Home Grooming?

So my pup's grooming appointment has been cancelled this week due to lockdowns in Victoria. I am anticipating lockdown gets extended and it got me thinking about doing it myself at home - seems that after the initial outlay for clippers, it would be a much more budget friendly solution (assuming I'm able to get it right, but that's another topic!).

Does anyone do full grooms at home? If so which clippers would you recommend please? My boy is a labradoodle with heaps of fur - would love to hear recommendations from fellow oodle owners especially!

  • Obligatory MS Paint of pupper required

  • Wahl pet clipper - KM2 is decent.

    Add some guides if needed.

    Kawai Leonard.

  • for poodle breeds you need something tough - we've got an Andis agc super. You have to do it in stages, maybe a third of the dog at a time as they get quite hot. I wouldn't get a cordless one for a poodle breed as you'll be recharging it in the middle of clipping. make sure you get a couple of guides of different length too

  • I have a labradoodle too. Andis clippers with ceramic blades are great. Buy 2 blades so you can swap them out when they get hot. I purchased both the clippers and blades from Amazon

  • I would go with Kawhi

  • Thank you all for your advice!

  • Picked up an Andis AGC2 for $150 new from ebay but that was 3 years ago - prices seem to be way up now. Have a #10 blade for it and it goes really well on our Aust labradoodle (so coat not as poodley). Been meaning to get some slightly longer ones as its much nicer using the right sized blades than using combs/guides.
