The Quacks of Quedlinburg - Differences in Stock from Amazon

Hi guys,

This game was posted twice on OzBargain twice recently. I ordered 3 copies of this game over 2 orders from Amazon AU fulfilled by Amazon UK.

I have received all 3 copies now and have noticed some differences in stock between the games. I am just concerned there may have been potential counterfeit games supplied by Amazon and was hoping other people who ordered at the same time could share information on their copies.

This is the link that I have posted to explain the differences I have noticed.

These are the links to the OzBargain posts for the game.

Cant believe I read the whole thing.
Differences/updates in packaging is very common for physical products.
It’s up to the creator/manufacturer to make these design changes.
This is clearly shown by the different barcode numbers.

Copy “A” has the number 52000242 printed whilst both copies of “B” have the number 52000349 printed.

You can tell the supposedly lesser quality B has newer barcode, meaning it is a different product from A and it also means update had been done. Whether the update is positive/negative is up to you.

And we haven’t even looked inside. If you believe Amazon is selling counterfeit, have you reported the issue to Amazon?

Amazon is clearly not at fault here.

there is zero way for you to state categorically that amazon is not at fault since unless you received the goods in question you can't know.

someone asked a reasonable question because amazon do sell fake goods - they admit issues at times.

clearly you feel entitled to assert a guess as a fact .

I understand there can be updates.

The main red flag for me is the designers name not being printed on the supposed newer products for cover B.

Even going onto the publishers website the image clearly shows the designers name on the front.

It is possible the publisher may not have updated the images on their website. Hence I am just trying to see if anyone who has also purchased a copy recently has noticed these things.

In the past when I have suspected an item was counterfeit I have contacted the manufacturer. They were very keen to hear. They confirmed the item was counterfeit and gave me a discount voucher for the legit item. I recommend asking the manufacturer/publisher as they will know.

  • Does the game work?

    • Yes.

So does this fake watch. Happy to pay full price?

It's a $100 game that seems to be almost identical, if not just an update version. A cheap watch doesn't have the same movement, water resistance etc.

I ordered this version from Amazon in October 2020.
    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07KNH77DC/ref=ppx_yo_d…

    It has:
    Designer name in top right
Orientation of front and back is the same (yes, it's still in shrink, wall of shame etc etc)
Weight (including shrink wrap) is 1405g
Age, players etc location matches 'A'
There is no mark between Q and U
The number on top of the barcode is 51900366

If you're concerned, I would contact the manufacturer directly.

Thanks for the info. I have emailed the publisher Schmidt Spiele but it sounds like they rarely reply to people who have contacted them via email for other reasons.

Btw did your copy have a white sticker with “imported by coiledspring games”? I have also emailed them as well.

Nope, no stickers at all or any sign of 'coiledspring games'

Same as my copy, bought Sep 2020
