Blue Compass Microphone Boom Arm $138 ($0 Metro Delivery / C&C) @ Officeworks

60

Normally Upwards of $170

Not the cheapest Boom Microphone arm but it's really clean with it's monotube design and hidden cable routing.
Comparing to some cheaper Amazon models, the adjustment is basically silent and no visible springs which could flick off into your eye.

Comparable to RØDE PSA1, currently $138.27 @ Amazon ($10 off regular pricing)

Pros vs RØDE PSA1
* Cleaner design with hidden channel for cable management
* Longer first arm (enough to reach over most monitors)
Cons
* Overall reach is slighter shorter (10mm) - Horizontal reach 810 vs 820
* Dialing in the tension adjustment is arguably more finicky (only need to adjust this to calibrate for Mic weight)
* Unable to mount directly into desk with a
* No elitist RØDE branding

Both have:
* Swivel mount
* Support Mics weighing to 1100g
* Can me mounted directly into desk using a 22mm insert (max 25mm desk thickness)

    That's a damn good price as these don't go on sale that often. If you've got a Blue Yeti these are much better than the PSA1, which tends to droop a bit even though they both have the same weight rating.

    • Haven't seen them go on sale (also haven't been looking for long) but have heard they don't go on sale often.

      Good feedback on the PSA1 though! Strange as the Yeti isn't near the rated 1100 gram at only 545g.

    Elitist RØDE branding what the

    • Can be seen as a pro or con haha

      Seems like RØDE's pretty big in the professional mic industry, some people froth over the brand. Whereas Blue is more prosumer focused company.

    Can you attach a go pro or a camera (RX100) to these?

    • As long as you have the right mount, Go pro would be easy.

      The RX100 again would need a thread adapter probably (mic stuff is bigger I think), it would be okay too.

    • I've heard some people mount cameras & GoPros to them for product pictures.

      The arm has a standard 5/8” threading with an adapter for 3/8” threading

      GoPro threaded mounts are 5/8" threading so they'll fit directly on.

      Ripped this from wiki

      Most consumer cameras are fitted with 1/4-20 UNC threads. Larger, professional cameras and lenses may be fitted with 3/8-16 UNC threads, plus a removable 1/4-20 UNC adapter, allowing them to be mounted on a tripod using either standard.

      The RX100 is 240g with standard battery so no issues with weight. So assuming it's a "professional" camera or has an adapter to standard 3/8 fitting, it'll work!

    These great. I have my a6600 with sigma 16mm mounted on one when I use it for streaming. Super stable and clean on the desk.

    • Ah must have expired or maybe they were clearing out stock :(
      I've updated the deal

      • Yeah shame, I pondered it for too long… :(
