Will wait until $80 or less.. Still too expensive

    • +7

Even $80 is expensive the games used to be $69 wtf happened?

      • +3

$69 was (and is) a real outlier when you look at game prices worldwide. Inevitable it was going to go up sadly

      • -3

        Nice.

      • Yeah, I'm gonna buy used on eBay (~$80-90) a week or two after release and resell for probably not much less…

      • I was wondering the same thing. All of a sudden games have jumped from $69 to $100 this console generation. Its just too expensive. What are EB selling new releases for these days? $129?

      • +2

Game prices have barely moved in 20 years. This has been flagged for a while by the gaming publishers. Next-gen triple A titles will all be RRP over $100.

  • +1

    Released Friday 11th June.

This is the cheapest straight up deal otherwise it’s $84 with LatitudePay at JB Hi-Fi or $49 + 2 Trade-in Games at EB Games.

    • +10

Because it's the cheapest available to buy outright of specific conditions?

      • -7

The term 'bargain' is losing his meaning everyday more here.

        • Yeah he is definitely losing the meaning. We should all only make forum posts

    • +6

Because the price of $109 is the cheapest anywhere else that of which is for sale currently. And because the lower price of $98 is less than $109 that is why it is a classed as a "bargain"

  • +1

Probably the effects of peeps cancelling their pre-order recently with Amazon, knowing that JBs doing better price after Latitude Pay promo.

    • They are price matching Gamesmen

  • +1

What's everyone's experience about this arriving on the actual date as opposed to shipping on release date?

    • +4

Mm. Not high. For $10 I might just grab it on the day.

    • +1

It releases on the Friday, depending on where you live if it's metro you should always receive it on release date but I'm not sure about rural areas. Amazon is the best for delivery

    • +3

Since COVID it has been bad. I’ve preordered a few games and have cancelled the day before release as they hadn’t shipped. Usually if a game comes out on a Friday the estimated arrival date has been the Monday or Tuesday. Generally easier just to grab it from a shop

      • +1

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they removed all information regarding release date delivery not long after March-April last year.

So it seems despite that after major lockdowns and getting back to full force, decided not to offer release date delivery for pre-orders anymore.

Kinda sad, as Auspost at least has been improving their delivery systems quite a bit, just Amazon covering their ass as they probably were giving away too many credits to annoyed customers not receiving their orders on time.

The ironic thing is, I've had to get a replacement for Returnal due to a smashed case, and put the issue to them before midday release day, and received a replacement order the next day. That's after I waited from Friday to Monday to get it. Amazon is whacky >.>

    • +4

Terrible, would not do it again; especially for a Friday release.

      (Located in Perth metro)

    • Pretty disappointing tbh. My pre-order of Cyberpunk was 2 days late. They didn't ship until late on the release date

This one is looking to be the same. I literally just got a tracking number an hour ago, doesn't seem to have been picked up AusPost yet. Monday delivery is less and less likely. Amazon tracking is predicting delivery by EOB Wednesday. Sigh.

      Sydney metro…
You'd think they would send a day early huh. They don't. Oh well, will see when it arrives

    • I've ordered quite a few items from Amazon that were labelled as arriving on release date, and they never have. They've always shipped on release date for me. I'm in Perth.

I read below some others have been lucky but not me.

  • +2

Never had issues with Amazon, and have been using them ever since they opened up in Aus.

For pre-orders they ship it in advance so that it arrives on the release date. Also recently I've noticed they've seemingly upgraded their fulfilment times as they even offer free next day delivery for prime members for a lot of items now. Once ordered a random $10 item at 10pm on a Saturday and had it delivered by 1pm the next day (on a Sunday, no less).

Cust service is also class, many people can vouch that even a minor inconvenience is compensated well above what anyone would reasonably expect.

    • Are you in the CBD? Have similar great experience but note this isn't the same for everyone. Depends how far you are from logistics centres and their routes. I get pre-orders delivered to parcel locker on launch day, many many others do not, especially if it's a Friday release.

      • -1

Nope nowhere near the CBD, but definitely not rural as I still have access to next day delivery items.

For those that don't receive it on release day, they end up getting at least a $10 refund if they ask which I feel more than makes up for missing the release date, especially nowadays since they deliver on weekends as well (as opposed to before when it was just weekdays).

        • +2

I haven't been able to get a refund from Amazon for the last five or so missed release day games in the past nine months or so, even though I've asked each time.

    • +1

I've had that experience recently too where I ordered something from Amazon on a Saturday and had it delivered the following day.

However, I have not had a game delivered on release day in over a year. To me it seems they are scared of breaking the street date or something because they never seem to ship games for me until the release date or the day after.

      • +1

Hmm very strange, since I've had the opposite experience and have pre-ordered a few games from Amazon. The latest I've ever had a pre-order dispatch was the night before release date (and even then it still arrived on time as expected).

I don't even live close to the CBD or any of their fulfilment centres either, maybe I'm just getting lucky every time but I doubt that.

        • Can confirm I received the game today as expected with no hiccups.

      • Same here. I used to get every single game a day or two early here in the outskirts of metro Adelaide from launch until about Feb 2020. Since then, every single game has been delivered 1 (business) day after release (so on Monday for Friday releases).

My guess is publishers weren't stoked with them shipping early and having them delivered early, as Australians were posting playthroughs and spoilers on YouTube.

I've since moved to PC for non-PS exclusives, so I don't have the issue any more, but it was definitely grinding my gears missing the launch weekend of every game.

      • Look closer at the listings. You will find that release date delivery is not advertised anymore. Been like this since mid-last year.
I don't think they're scared of breaking the release date, but just trying to save money on credits being given out every time since the pandemic hit.

I probably got around $100 worth of credit due to these issues, so stands to reason, but diminishes their business quite a bit.

  • +1

I hope this and GoW eventually come to PC

    • +1

Pretty much can expect all PS exclusives to come to PC after X amount of time.

      • +1

I don't think Ratchet and Clank ever has. I would love for it to though, I remember back in PS2 games how much fun it was.

  • +2

Wow that's a big price increase to the PS4 games, they're usually $69 from Amazon :/

  • +1

$124.95 RRP wow PS5 and PS exclusive tax is strong with this one!

  • Is this special preorder price? Will it go up after the release?

    • RRP is 124.95 so possibly yes.

  • Review embargo is up and it's looking absolutely fantastic! Very excited!
