I find Skippys to be much better than Bega. Skippys arent available at Coles or Woolworths.

    • Where do you buy

    • +4

Skippy is way too sweet IMO

Isn't American PB loaded with sugar?

  • +2

    420 yep

Time to blaze up and have a peanut butter sanga

  • How does this compare to Mayver’s?

    • Trash, i hated it. I prefer just peanut butter without added oil.

      • +1

ingredients should list roasted peanuts + salt. way better tasting, can actually taste the peanut

    • It just doesn't.

Mayvers is peanut butter. This is cooked with sugar and vegetable oil.
Why choose this unhealthy peanut butter?

    • +1

Contents are not from Australia. Could have issues in them.

    • Cos it tastes better :P

(Obviously IMO. Tried and don't like the natural oil style PB)

      • Lol yer Nutella taste better then all doesn't mean you choose an unhealthy choice.

    • Agree, no idea why someone would buy this trash these days when we are lucky enough to have actual penaut butter that is probably cheaper too lol.

    • Also with antioxidant 320 a known carcinogen

The No Added Sugar Or Salt Smooth is the best but they never go on sale for less than $4.00.

Bega Simply Nuts 325g varieties are half price at Coles this week. $2.50. Made in Australia with 100% Australian peanuts. It's better value, heaps better quality and taste.

    • +1

Beat me to it, absolutely agree!

    • Agreed had some just before and it's the best.

    • Does this one have added sugar?

    • Yes! They've finally come out with a "Nuttiest" variant, which is close to the consistency of Mayvers. Lacks a little salt, but it's good value for $2.50

Not related to the sale, but just remembered reading it earlier https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-06-03/bega-wins-multi-milli…

I don't understood why Bega can't use Australian peanuts in all their peanut butter spreads?

Spend a bit more for Bega's Simply Nuts Rustic Grind (Crunchy & Smooth currently out of stock) which use peanuts from QLD and are also on half price sale for $2.50.

Looks like they're price matching Coles so can also try in-store.

Unfortunately Australia has a shortage of peanuts, and the huge Kingaroy, QLD peanut farms are running dry. I understand why Bega would only use it for their smaller Simply Nuts line compared to the mainline crunchy/smooth product.

    $4.20, nice.

This post made me realise that I've been reading the brand as Beqa my whole life.

  • Very Krafty of them!

  • Always prefer this peanut butter to the likes of Pics and Mayvers. It's what we all grew up on.

    • Yep, grew up on it too. But can't stomach it now. You can literally feel the sugar crystals between your teeth.

  • Backorder

  • Is it only me or does anyone hear that Lou Bega Mambo No 5 song in their head when they see this peanut butter?

  • Check the reviews before buying. My previous experiences were that the BB dates are very short, like 1 month plus. Bordering ridiculous tbh.

  • Got mine delivered today, ordered 4 and they were individualy packaged in 4 separate small Amazon boxes (very wasteful!)

Expiry date 17 Oct 21 so quite short dated. Peanut butter doesn't really expire, does it?
