Does Buying a Sim Online Vs in Store Make a Difference?

Hi,

I've bought a yearly Amaysim prepaid plan online, and am waiting for the sim to arrive to activate it. I'm wondering if I can pickup a $2 amaysim sim from a local store and use it to activate the plan instead or does it have to be the one they are sending? Does the sim they send matter? I would like to activate it as soon as possible to get it completed.

Thanks for any help, im not too savvy on changing mobile plans.

  • No difference. You can go in and buy a $2 sim and activate it with your plan if you want to.

  • +1

I had ordered the 6 month plan and couldn't wait so bought one from the store, but that didn't end up working. Pretty sure it has to be the one their sending, for Amaysim.

  • If you buy through cashback provider you will normally forfeit any cashback if you dont use the one they send you I understand.

  • I have done this with Amaysim, ordered online, bought the SIM instore, then through the chat activated. I think the SIM you buy from a store can be ported over to your existing number, but I think there's something odd with the process. Perhaps you have to activate your store SIM first, then once active, get back on the chat and arrange to port your number. Check with chat before you do this as it feels wrong compared with what you usually do to port.
If you are currently with Optus or another Optus based provider expect problems :-)
