How does this taste compared to Aldi’s Lazzio

    • Freshness of the beans counts a lot for how a coffee tastes.
I have my doubts these are freshly roasted.
I buy the Aldi beans as they are generally only around 4 weeks old when I buy them.

      • How do you know this? Is there a roasted date on the pack?

        • No, no roast date. I also want to know how he knows this

          • @BarryBargain88: I wonder if you could work it out backwards from the best before date, am also very curious to know this, an enjoying the Brazil beans

        • +2

Yes there is on the Aldi packs.
Just need to understand the format.
          It is "B" then YYMMDD.
          So B210214 is roasted 14 Feb 2021.

          • @dazza826: Found it thanks. There's no B on my pack. Just the date

        • +1

Look for the best before date.
Aldi beans have their best before dates at 15 months from roast date.
Below the best before date is 6 digit number eg 210607- that is the roast date (7th June 2021)

Which Lazzio do you prefer? I just bought the other day the one from Peru

      • I use the dark grounds to make cold brew so interested in a compassion between the two dark grounds

        • Ok. This is the first batch of coffee Beans I have ever bought since recently purchasing a grinder from an ozb deal the other day. Also interested which others here prefer.

The aldi dark/medium roasts an a lot of their pods have robusta beans in it, which gives a nice element of burnt rubber taste at times.

Not bad in itself, just cheaper and not as good as arabica beans.

I'm no coffee snob, but I only drink black coffee with dark grounds. I mostly buy Harris and recently tried Lazzio. I prefer Harris as it tastes "stronger" and "darker". There's a slight chocolate taste in the Lazzio which I do not like.

That's my favourite. Incredible taste for the price!

Honduras and Columbia both very good. Honduras if you want caramel hints.

The single origin varieties are Arabica, so much better than the medium/dark varieties which are Arabica/Robusta.

From there it's just a taste preference from fruitier to more chocolatey. Depends on whether you are making espresso, filter, cold brew etc.

I've found their recent 500g packs (more expensive/gram) have been interesting for a change. They seem to rotate what's available based on what beans they can get which is sensible.

Honduras is my go to at the moment for a milk based espresso.

        • good to know there other good flavours in the Lazzio Aldi brand.. I will try the others and see which one is best.. Usually i just make myself a long black double shot coffee with no sugar

  • This is definitely the better of the Coles/Woolies brands for mine so this is a good price.

    • They were playing with fire when they discontinued the Columbian one, but this one has become the trusty replacement.

  • Is this any better than Aldi’s. Even if it is the same I will take it delivered

    • It is very unlikely to be as fresh as the freshest Aldi offering.

    • Don't know about the Aldi's, but I have been using the Harris "Very Strong, very dark roast" beans, they are quite good.

  • Got 5 bags

      Is that you Broden?

  • how does this compared to the cafe blends/expresso

  • Just OOS

These are absolute trash, nqr often have these for $10 and even then that's too much. Aldi Lazzio or Single origin (I prefer brazil) dumps on these from great height.

  • Oos… Saved me from buying more beans! :)

  • Yea as others have said, go with Aldi

  • Is the Harris yoghurt good?

  • -1

this is expensive. it has been under $10 reguarly before

  • I regularly buy Woolworths brand - always $12/kg, delivered & it tastes real nice

  • These beans are horrible. couldn't get a single decent cup. Bought 2 bags and think I'll keep the other one to use if I ever want to quit coffee, that'd be all it's good for.

    • I mixed it with theColes beans, worked out ok. Agree that is horrible straight up.
