  Does the handle get too hot to touch during high heat cooking? What are people's experience in general, do you have to use a tea towel to handle the skillet?

    I remember picking mine up from aldi for less than $5 as part of a special buy one weekend.

    Oven mitts are another option.

      These only help to an extent. On a high flame, even with a silicon handle my cast iron skillet gets crazy hot and I have to resort to using very thick oven mitts.

        ohh yes absolutely. I've noticed that for 80% of the time (like cooking eggs, stir fry's, etc.) I can manage with these handle holders.

        If I'm putting the pan in the oven or using high heat for extended periods, I remove the holder, and then they definitely need the mitts.
