Telstra Charged Extra Month and It Could Be You (Especially JB Hi-Fi Telstra Plan)

OK I signed up to a new JB Hi-FI plan for $65 with a $10 discount for 12 months contract last year.

The thing is when I checked my latest bill I was missing the $10 discount, which the usage should be within the 12 months billing period. So I went to a cat and mouse chase with some roller-coaster loops with the Telstra Gold App team (several agents……)

They are slow and unable to understand the problem I had after explaining the same thing over and over again. They insist that the $10 discount is applied to all 12 months.

That left me no choice as I put on my Detective Pikachu hat. Tracing, comparing, and searching for all my Telstra bills last year and I found out an, even more, better reward for their mischarging.

Telstra actually charge me on the first month on signup after a few days for the first bill with the same billing period for the following month which I found out in horror but with delight.

Not wasting any more time I contacted their Telephone support and managed to speak to a lovely lady which at one go, she understood my long but brief explanation. She investigated and found out it was odd and the first time she has encounter it. So she is going to provide me a credit note for a month which was $275 for my case instead of the $10 x 5 which originally I was chasing.

This again could be a class action fine for Telstra but again it could just happen to the random me. Hope this will help someone with the Telstra JB Hi-Fi signup post paid plans.

Ciao~~

Telstra, overpriced and poor service. I gave them the boot many years ago and never looked back!

  • I had the similar experience with Optus, I made several complaints and got refused to waive the fee. So I filed a complaint via TIO, and Optus responded me few days later telling me they waived the fee.

  • All good for me on same/similar deal.

Though it not immediately obvious, the $10 discount whether it stops at 12 months.

    • To confirm it does.
