Chivas Regal Royal Salute 21yr

This rich and complex whisky from Chivas is aged for 21 years in oak casks before bottling in handcrafted porcelain flagons.

Royal Salute was launched on 2nd June 1953 as a tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on her Coronation Day. The name of this exceptional Scotch Whisky comes from the 21 Gun Royal Salute, which is fired as a mark of respect for powerful dignitaries.

At her coronation, the crown of Queen Elizabeth II was set in rubies, sapphires and emeralds. These precious stones remain the inspiration for the colours of Royal Salute's handcrafted flagons, therefore bottle colour may vary.

    Rep?
Edit: After googling - this is a pretty good price
But I can't find an online store on the site? I assume this is Port Kembla only?

  • Wow I hate flash based websites … ugly to boot! I guess can't buy online and well pickup isn't much of an option.

I've had 21 year old Chivas and it was a very nice drop!

  • would choice 1 price match this?
as not planning a trip to nsw.

    shame it's not available online

The most marketed blended whisky brand. For the money, I'd rather get a good 18yrs 1Litre single malt - no comparison in taste.

    • I agree… Don't even need to spend this to get a nice single… But everyone has the scotch that they like best

First choice only does price match for the same state… so unless you live in NSW you cant get it at that price… Unless you can trick them :)

  • Yeah over $100 for a blend is a waste

$35 and this is single handedly one of the best blends I've ever drunk it's blended from 8 malts vs 20-40

Also reviewed as one of the top 10 blends in the world

    • Out of curiosity, where abouts did you read this review??

  • lol I have some 12 year old Chivas Regal that was bought for me 18 years ago that makes it 30 years old :o

Is it supposed to get better with age?

    • AFAIK liquors only age in casks, where the wood imparts unique favours to the spirits as well as making them mellow over time, and some amount of alcohol could escape (aka angels' portion in the trade). Once sealed in a bottle, none of these could take place.

Be sure not to store your bottle upright (or give it a swirl once in a while) or you may find the cork stopper has disintegrated by the time you decide to open the bottle.

That happened to the bottle of Johnny blue that I had. Thankfully the whole Johnny range tastes like ass so now I just drink my single malts instead. [insert happiness here]

        • ur right about the johnny ranges got 2 1L blue labels i keep just for show
