Trying to Choose a Printer, Test Prints?

I'm trying to decide between a couple of printers and want to see what the print quality us like. So I was hoping to see if any stores like Officeworks etc do test prints. Does anyone know if stores do this?

Thanks

    Unlikely

    Never heard of it.

Why not just say which printers you are interested in and ask for opinions.

I've been reading reviews but would prefer to see for myself.

I'm trying to decide between an Epson ET2710 EcoTank or an Expression Photo HD XP-15000. If the colour print quality is good enough, I'd like to go with the ET2710 due to cheaper operating costs. I know it won't print anywhere near the quality of the XP-15000 but I can get either printer for almost the same price.

HP used to, but they are ridiculously expensive printers to run, other than the smart tank.

Check around other retailers like HN, DM, JB etc.

We own an Epson Ecotank (2 actually), and my partner is a teacher. She uses good quality paper (from OW), which looks great. The upfront cost is expensive, but they are ridiculously cheap to run. Nothing worse than having to spend $60 on a cartridge, and it only lasts a ream of paper.

Also, if you look at such a printer, Extended Warranty can be worthwhile, but haggle on the price. If the salesperson doesn't budge, go elsewhere. Commissioned salespeople have sales targets ( I don't think OW do), so aim for 25 to 30% off on the wty.

No one should be buying HP and supporting their current practices even if they were the cheapest upfront option.

I'd also recommend against extended warranty. It's rarely worth it at the best of times and with a printer the consumables are by far the largest cost and not covered by the warranty anyway. If there's an issue the first thing they're going to want you to do is replace the consumables at your cost. That plus the cost of the extended warranty you likely could've just bought a new printer.

How good would you say the colour printing quality is? The printer will be used for various arts and crafts activities such as printing scanned small water colour paintings and digital art printing so we'd require fairly good print quality, but it doesn't have to be absolutely perfect.

Officeworks used to do test prints on limited printers during the weekend when the brand reps were there. Epson/Canon/HP would often send reps who would demo printers. You won't be able to haggle at OW as they aren't commission based.

Epson used to with their waterproof ink and paper. Now everytime the ink is low one gets a new printer and creates more landfill!

This is what I want to avoid.
