Realme C3 Very Loud Notification Sound

Hey, so I just bought one of Ozbargain's most famous phones but I find that the notification volume is super loud even when the ringtone sound is set very low…

Does it require an update or is there a workaround that someone can recommend? I've currently set the sound to none, but I don't think this is feasible as I would need to look at the phone every now and then to find out if I have received SMS messages.

Under the sounds and vibration settings there are volume controls for different types of sounds, Notifications, System, Ringtones and Media (in no particular order).

You just need to turn down the Notification sounds while leaving the other sliders untouched

    • My 7 Pro only has Media, Ringtone, and alarms. The notifications volume is changed by using the ringtone slider, so you can't have a loud ringtone and quiet notifications by just using the volume settings.

Like OP, I dislike the loud notifications

      • Interesting. Looks like some android phones merge both ringtone and notification sounds into the same volume adjustment, think it's a default Android thing.

Might be just Samsung phones that separate Ringtones and Notification volumes.

I guess if you can source some notification sounds online you might be able to do some audio mixing of your own and reduce the volume of the sounds using a program like Audacity. Tutorial here

Then place the sounds into the "Notifications" folder located in the root directory of your phone's internal storage.

      • Yeah, it's merged. I got the JB Hifi version. I don't know if the Optus version has a different rom in it. I'm surprised no one has mentioned it, then again the same problem exists with Google's Pixel phones.

If the above comment doesn't work, choose a new notification sound. It could just be the notification file itself that is set really loud compared to other ones.
