  • Is this a deal or regular price?

It doesn't look particularly attractive from my Victorian perspective, but as prices and incentives differ greatly between states, maybe this is a good deal? Not clear where the bargain here is.

  • Its a deal for QLD. We dont have the state government rebate here.

    • What's the normal price? Might be worth updating the OP with the $ or % off.

  • +1

We look at our costs and check to see if someone else operating in the QLD market is doing it for less. If its worthwhile, we put it out. In Vic you're getting about $2250(?) extra from the state govt.

Okay, I'm just trying to figure out if this is advertising or an actual bargain where you can demonstrate the savings. The OP doesn't really state why it's a good deal (discount from normal price).

  • +2

Its about $300 off what we might have normally done this for.

    • Cool, thanks mate. Sounds like a bargain then!

      • +1

Yep. Its a pretty new panel and teamed up with a good inverter. We've done quite a few of those. Many to Ozb's
But we'd like to get that nice VIC rebate up here too…

  • Would you do the roof with decramastic tiles?

    • We do, but need to check it out first. Sometimes there is asbestos underneath. That spoils the party a bit! If you want me to take a look, just get in touch through the link.

  • Is there a way to calculate the savings based on a quarterly energy rate if provided?

    • Yes, its approximate though as there are many variables. Can help you work it out - just send me a PM or click on the deal link and I'll be in contact. Here

  • From a savings POV, if the my home is empty during sunlight hours (apart from weekends) is there generally any point in going solar without a battery? I guess it would power things like the fridge, hot water system?

    • Short answer: Yes. This can be expected if you get a reasonable feed-in from a power retailer. The best rates are not always advertised by retailers. Often some negotiation is required. The cost of the system plays a part in how long it will take to pay down, as does your consumption. Future plans involving energy use have to be considered too. Nearly everyone's situation is different, so it needs to be assessed. If your circumstance indicates to me that you will not be advantaged, I will say so.

    • 10kw system would make you carbon positive and generate income without a battery
