is there any way to get over the lousy exchange rates amazon charges about 96.8 australia dollar to get 1 us dollar dont use pay pal

  • Best bet is for a 28 degrees master card - it has no international transaction fees and a great conversion rate.
    Otherwise you could use a credit card, but you would have to way up the crappy Amazon conversion versus how much you get slogged with international transaction fees.

    Yes, don't use their exchange rates. There is a button there to use another currency like U.S. dollar.

  • 28 degrees master card has a rate of AU$ 0.936 per US$ 1. Other bank cards usually charge ~2-3% conversion fees. For example a NAB visa debit card has a rate of AU$ 0.956 per US$ 1. This includes the 2.3% NAB conversion fee. To take advantage of these rates just switch the currency to USD as pao2x above suggests.
