Telsim Warning: prepaid Sim card provider

Hi all,

Just would like to share my experience about this sim card provider and hopefully it helps you in the future.

First of all, I bought this sim card for $10 for 30 days and 3GB. The reason I bought this is because:

  1. It is cheap.
  2. I need to Port in and Port out to renew my Boost prepaid.

However:

  1. It is taking them total 18 days to Port in my number. It is very horrible. There was no way to fast track it.
  2. Once ported in, there wasn't a bad experience to note. It is connected like expected all the time.
  3. Once I decided to Port out, apparently I need to call Telsim first, asking them how to port out. Then once they gave u permission after you answer bunch of questions, they tell you to tell your new sim provider that they are post paid, optus and gave you a hidden account number. I didn't know this initially, and that's why Boost took a long time to Port me in, because they said that they can't find my account with Telsim. They haven't even heard of Telsim.

A further warning:
Some reviews said that the company has changed names a few times, and changed abn.

Overall it was very scary experience, I even fear I lose my number.

  • "Overall it was very scary experience". This takes the cake as to the threshold of scary experiences.

    • Losing my number is very scary.

  • On serious note, how the heck this kind of piece of shit company allowed to operate in a modern country like Australia?

    Is it lack of regulation?

This makes me feel I can do the same and make easy money.

  • Could someone please advise what is the best way to cancel porting in to Telsim? I made that mistake today and now need to cancel the port immediately so I don't fall into the same situation. Thanks

Keep calling their customer service until it is done. Note that porting to another provider does not stop them from porting you from the new provider.

      • Thanks - I ended up just mailing through to their customer service and they replied that they cancelled through there.

          Good good.

I should have done that before, my mistake is I just ported to someone else and thought it is done.

  • Thanks so much,I was about to port in.
