Afterpay - Unable to Approve Your Order

With eBay having a 15% off special for Afterpay payment on many items, I could save $130 on a NAS I've been eye'ing off and waiting for good pricing. I just signed-up to Afterpay, and have an "Est. available to spend $600". During eBay checkout with Afterpay, they want to take $300 now, and 3 x $150 f/nightly future payments. Accept/Continue, and Afterpay says "Sorry, we're unable to approve your order.".

OK, I get that they probably think it's risky, and thus denying the purchase. My question is, from others experience, is how long and what do you need to do to clear this and be able to make purchases in the scenario I describe above? Would it be months and lots of small Afterpay purchases/transactions?

    The NAS is $750 right?

If so, that is why it is being denied. You are going over $600. NAS needs to be $600 or less.

I don't remember how long it took for my limit to increase, but lots of purchases and paying off on time will help to increase limit.

      Hmm interesting.

I was in a similar situation but it was approved. My first afterpay purchase was about 850, I ended up paying 400 on the down payment then 150 for the remaining 3 payments.

      • Oh ok, never mind then ignore my comment.

can't OP use giftcard to reduce total payable to $600 and buy it with afterpay?

      • yes

      • Hmm, I didn't think split payment types/methods were possible on checkout when using payment method specific discount codes

Afterpay sucks just get a friend or family member with afterpay to do the transaction and then reimburse them. Chuck them an extra tenner depending if your a tightarse or not.

Pay for it on a credit card or debit card instead?

    • No 15% afterpay discount code then

  • Which NAS are you trying to get?

This company is hell to deal with, during last sales I paid off all my owing amounts to keep buying more and ended up spending around 2k on a new account and they banned me for suspected fraud. Their customer service was like talking to a wall in terms of helpfulness and spent around 16 emails to get it sorted

I wouldn’t bother if this sale hasn’t come up
