If you guys know any specific models that you'd recommend or have had experience with that will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Just dont get fuji.
    Crappy.

I heard brother is good and cheap refill.
But i want one with small build, at least smaller than those normal multifunction laser printers..

B&W Brothers are excellent, but if you want scanning then you generally have to get a multifunction that are significantly bulkier. Almost all have wifi & ethernet printing, and generic toner is super cheap and lasts forever

    • long ago I swear I saw Samsung laser with scan copy print and small build, expensive like $500 at Harvey Norman brick store but now I can't find it by googling. Weird.

    • is there any specific brother model that you would recommend?

If you can stretch another $38 Officeworks has Brother Wireless Mono Laser MFC Printer MFC-L2713DW for $238. I have had one for a few years and it has been great.

Thanks, @bloom also recommended the same one, will keep my eye on that one for any bargains since I don't need it urgently.

Your list of features is exactly what I needed for a laser printer too.

I've been using a brother multifunction for years and have been very happy with it.

Some things that may not be immediately obvious:

Pros: The toner low message can be reset and ignored, so you can keep using the toner until YOU decide it's no longer clear enough. There are brands where they will flat out refuse to work unless replaced.

Cons: The scanning is a few millimetres under A4. I actually brought it up with support and they totally claimed that it's purposely designed this way. God knows why though. It's the first scanner (stand alone or multifunction) that I've ever experienced it with.

      • Sorry, I don't know the newer models. Mine is from 2017. It's the MFC L2740. Purchased for $200.37

Good luck in your search, mate.

        • Ah right. Thank you, mate.

    • I dont need the fax feature i will definitely get it off the size is more compact….. like maybe 30-40% smaller… not possible?

    • I second this. Can’t go wrong with a Brother mono laser printer.

      • Mono can be totally useless though if one wants printer mainly for the color prints.

    • Thanks @bloom and @pantsparty I'll set a price alert for this.

Hi, just thought to add my 2 cents to this. I bought this printer a couple of months ago

It's a brother printer that is multi-function with a great scanner and is relatively cheap. Would definitely recommend it, which has dropbox features and emailing scanning/fax features if you still live in the past. The only issue is that it's relatively bulky so if you don't have the space for it may be better to buy a more compact printer.

Btw there's a small LCD touch screen panel to navigate through the menus, so quite handy, still get regular firmware updates on the printer. The price point is about $50 above what you're looking for, but, would you rather dismiss a good product because it's over a certain price point? Better than buying a knock-off brand or hurling yourself through the back gates of uncertainty on the build quality.
That being said, there may be better offers around so keep an eye out!

      • Thanks mate, completely agree. Definitely looking to buy something that'll last and doesn't make me wanna pull my hair out.. :D
Will set a price alert for it.

I've had the Brother B&W previously (something like the MFC-L2713DW) and now I have upgraded to the MFC-L3770CDW (colour).

Very happy with both, although I will say that you will know this is a budget colour by the print quality of photos on the 3770CDW. When I was printing B&W, it was harder to tell poor print quality.

Furthermore, the 3770CDW is SIGNIFICANTLY larger than the B&W laser, presumably because of 4 times the number of cartridges it needs to hold.

yeah, I'm planning on sticking with the b&w laser for the occasional prints. initially thought I'll get a cheap inkjet printer but didnt want the ink drying hassle. Others have also recommended the same model, looks like brother is the clear winner. Thanks for the help, mate.
