Flight Cancelled by Virgin

Hi friends. Just need some advice/reassurance/shoulder to cry on.

Had a flight from Canberra to Melbourne initially scheduled this Sunday evening that has been canceled. Virgin has switched me to another flight the following day (a business day) which is less than ideal for me. I've tried getting in touch with the travel provider I booked it with to get it switched to another flight on the Sunday, but just wanted to see if it would be worth contacting Virgin themselves as well/instead of? Any advice at all is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Today is Monday already… I assume Sunday 20th?

You got a few days, call them in the morning to find out?

Hardly anyone can fly out of Melbourne without quarantine at their destination so flight schedules and capacities are stuffed for all operators.

Multiple near empty flights are being merged to create 1 near capacity flight so you might just have to live with it or try the Friday or Saturday before.

  • Hi there, similar thing happened to me a few weeks ago after the Virgin outage. Booked through a third-party, and they raised the refund with Virgin. It's been three weeks and not a peep from either. 'Apparently' there is nothing that can be done to expedite the inquiry.

  • Virgin will refer you back to whoever you booked with in my experience. If you can log into your account with Virgin to look at your flights you can try to make changes there.

  • The third party "owns" your booking, as such you will need to go through them. Virgin will not deal with you directly.
However, as blueyez said, if it is linked to your Velocity account it may be possible to login and change your flight.
