[Pre Order] Free RM Williams Men’s Comfort Craftsman/Women’s Adelaide Boots with $990 Spend on Penfolds Wine @ Bottlemart

760

I am trying to work out if there is value in the wine they are selling and it isn't overpriced. But hey hopefully this works out for some. I will edit later with price comparisons from Uncle Dan on Penfolds wine. At the moment i can't see any exclusions on specific Penfolds wine that you need to buy, but bottlemart will not have the range that Dan's does of course:
You can get a case of Koonunga Hill Shiraz from Dan's ($9.45 a bottle) compared to Bottlemart ($18 a bottle in singles)

You will need to do your research on higher end vintages if that is what you will be purchasing. Their lower range is not a great price and I'm unsure if Bottlemart has a price match policy as I could not find it on their website:

Price comparisons vs Dan Murphys (credit to vSchweetz and dinna89)

Max Shiraz - $24.99 Bottlemart / $23.33 Dans
2018 Bin 28 - $44.99 Bottlemart / $44.90 Dans
2018 Bin 389 - $99.99 Bottlemart / $94.10 Dans
2017 St Henri - $130.00 Bottlemart / $99.90 Dans
2018 RWT Shiraz - $180.00 Bottlemart / $170.10 Dans
2016 Grange - $850.00 Bottlemart / $749.00 Dans

So here it goes:

no year on the grange so hard to know if value?
if its 2015 its $698 at dan murphys
rwt reasonable price depending on year
st henri a bit expensive depending on year 2017 $99
bin 389 slight cheaper 94.99 but depends on year again

    • Thank you - i just started looking at the prices to compare - Yes you are right and need to look at your vintages

    • -5

The value is the pair of shoes for free.

      • +14

Not if you can get penfolds for half price then the shoes is false free

        • -1

You can get Grange, RWT, 389 at half price?
Let me know, because I'll buy 100 bottles of RWT at $90, and $50 for 389.

          You're dreaming mate.

          • -1

@[Deactivated]: Yes as well as whisky. I paid around $55 for 389. $85 for RWT. But no true collector buys 100 bottles of Penfolds.

            • +1

@sunnyc: Would love to know how you could get 50% off premium Penfolds mentioned above and Whisky too, please?

            • +1

@sunnyc: If you really can get them for 50%, I'll buy 100 each. Paying cash too if you want haha

            • @sunnyc: Where did you get those prices?

I look at wine daily for years and have never seen it.

The lowest I've seen RWT is probably $100-120, but you'd have to buy 6.

              389, I think $60ish I've seen in a 6pk.

    • If you look harder you will find the vintage
      Grange - 2016
RWT - 2017 (if you're in QLD) 2018 (for everyone else)
      389 - 2018
      St Henri - 2017
      Bin 28 - 2018
Max's - Not listed and I doubt it matters.

Penfolds and RM Williams. Perfect for the next Young Liberals meeting

Chinos and Patagonia vest to top it up!

As opposed to thongs and a goon sack?

Sorry sir, the One Nation party meeting is at the rear of the building, follow the exit signs that way and you will find your tables and seats next to the dumpsters.

        • +4

Please present your One Nation stubby holder to be admitted to the meeting.

        • +1

To be honest you made it sound way cooler than the Young Liberals meeting.

      • +7

Birkenstocks, dreadlocks and smelling like piss seems to be the trend.

    • +1

you can polish the bottles as well as the boots!

  • +1

    Seriously overpriced wine.
I never understood the hype behind.

    • +1

      It's the bitcoin in wines

    • +4

      China
      China is the hype

      • +1

Well you can say the same thing with housing price, milk powder, uni fees, although govt and media kind of denying it.

        • Yup,
Literally the only thing holding Australia's economy together is China's penchant for Australian ore, coal, property, wine, beef.
If the gov thinks they can detach and continue with our way of life they're sorely mistaken.

But yes, i don't agree with many of China's tactics.

    • -1

A+ quality fruit, carefully made product to high standards by industry experts and an in demand brand name that you know is quality.
      Pretty simple math really.

      • +1

I am not saying it is bad quality. I am saying it is overpriced compared to other (especially overseas) competitors

    • Koonunga Hill Shiraz is my cheap default - on the same level as a Pepperjack for a few bucks more.

Fair enough some of the more expensive bins may be overpriced. Can't say I've tried a Grange yet, but I can personally say Bin 28 is worth it at $35 when on sale.

      • I've seen Bin 28 for mid 20s through First Choice, or Liquorland etc

  • +1

Okay I’m not sure if this is a good deal. They can’t export to China so

    • +4

Heard they found a loophole by exporting to HK first… so situation isn't as dire as many people think

    • Yeah, that's a 6l bottle though - easier to buy a couple of 3L goons.

  • +4

Its not a terrible deal. I would buy 6 x RWT (its a cracking wine) and then the shoes are basically half price. This can be called the Melbourne Football membership package

    • +1

I'm more of a Vino Collapso man myself..Go Pies! PS: Thanks Bucks, you'll always be a champion!

If you are going to spend $990 on wine, then I am calling the Bargain Police to suspend your OzBargain licence.

    • +3

      Why

    • +5

But it’s okay to spend 1K on everything else?

      • +14

Only if it’s SSD, cpus, stick vacuums, 4 ply toilet paper, Viva paper towels or KFC. Did I miss anything (maybe gift cards)

        • +6

Are you even ozbargaining if you don't mention a picture of an unlocked phone on clearance from a Kmart in one store in Queensland?

        • +5

          Eneloops

        • massage guns!

  • +1

Post first - figure out of it's a good deal later XD

    • +4

It may help some, that like a fine drop and some shoes thrown in to boot
If you are after a cheaper bottle of Penfolds then this is not the place to look.
As mentioned if it helps some, then it is a bargain.
On one side of the fence it won't be a bargain, but can be on the other

      • I appreciate the post - it's just a new approach to deals haha…. let the people decide.

        • Isn't the "let the people decide" approach why we have the voting system for all deals anyway?

      • +1

a fine drop and some shoes thrown in to boot

Make your mind up, is it a shoe or a boot?

        • +1

'Boots are footwear that covers not only the feet but also the ankles and sometimes even the lower leg. Shoes cover and protect the feet but generally stay below the ankles'

My pun won't work so well if i say 'boots thrown in to boot'

  • +2

Couldn’t you just price match the wine and still collect the boots?

  • +3

    The ultimate shoey

  • does anyone know what year is the grange?

  • +1

not too bad of a deal, shame I already got pairs of RM's in black + chestnut

  • +2

You need to amend the title. It's not free with any wine, they only give you a small choice to pick from to spend the $990.

  • +1

    32 people upvoted this.

Does ozbargain host its own lucky draws? 1 in 40 chance - each buys a $25 Shiraz - one for each upvote and the prize winner gets the boots!

Thanks for contacting the national Bottlemart online support team.

We will be updating the website soon to show the Vintage for the Penfolds wine. In the meantime I have listed them below for your information

    Bin 389 – 2018
    St Henri – 2017

        Thank you - will update

    • Thank you for checking

  • Like the phone deals who help those who get phone subsitised, this will be great for female office workers in health.
Company subsidized wine can get insane from my experience.

  • +9

Not a bad price if you're in the market for both.

RM's can be found on a decent sale for $370 - $400 every 3-6 months. You might be able to find them cheaper but I have personally never seen them less except on a rare clearance.

So that means buying $990 worth of wine for approx $620 if you were already planning to buy the shoes on sale in the future. Or buying RM's for $595 (regular price) and getting $990 worth of wine for $395.

My pick would be 5 bottles of RWT + 1 bottle of Bin 389. TBH if I was in RM Williams and I was buying boots and they offered me the 5+1 for $395 I'd jump on it.

If you just wanted the boots, maybe consider this new deal.

  • +1

    Very tempting!!

RWT and 389s would be fine, I would probably cellar them for at least another 8-10 years though.

  • +4

    Thanks… stocked up on 389.

Noted this in the T&Cs - There are a total of 250 pairs of boots available for this offer.

    • +1

      Thanks, updated

  • +2

Hopped on this since I'm F width and would have to get RM's for retail anyway. Thanks OP

  • Thanks OP. Stocked up on 389 and got a pair of boots! Nice.

  • Could not get past checkouts so suspect it may have run out.

  • Dam was just about to buy a pair of Dynamic Flex Craftsman in H width, this offer is tempting to just get the Comfort Craftsman.

  • Anyone got an update on the orders yet?

    • +1

I got a message from the courier at 7am saying the bottlemart delivery was today but still hasnt arrived yet. No news on the boots yet

      • Got the wine today came in a wooden crate. Also no news on the boots

  • I received my RM Williams Craftsman boots today in Chestnut colour. Excellent boots and great promotion!
