Need a New Dishwasher

My old dishwasher died recently, and I am looking for a replacement my budget is around $1000. There is no 20% Goodguys eBay or something similar.
I did some research online and find E&S has BOSCH SMS66JI01A for $999 but it is not in WA and Retravision has for $998 but they removed the listing yesterday. So I don't know whether I can get a price match from HN or not.

I went to Retravision JB and HN yesterday, they all recommended Asko DBI243IBW ($1099) and Miele G 4203 SC ($999). I know they should get a high commission from Asko and Miele. But is these 2 dishwashers good and worth the price? Or I should try to get the BOSCH SMS66JI01A for $999.

And also any Bosch one on sale at the moment?

A few months ago, the ABC were discussing online review sites and suggested Ozbargain for a better/honest review, as some online sites maybe biased/controlled etc.

    • the Miele G 4203 SC one overall is 3.8 on product review same as the BOSCH SMS66JI01A. But the recent reviews are not good. the Miele one has 200+ reviews and the Bosch one has 22

    Miele.

My previous Asko died after 5 years and wouldn't warranty it even though it was some $1000+ dollars. Washing quality was pretty average on the best of days.

Replaced it with a $400 Euromaid cheapy expecting to get 3 years out of it and it's been going stronger and cleaning better than the asko.

Honestly the cheaper one's aren't too bad, but if you want to stick to a quality brand i'd go with Bosch or Miele. Asko imho aren't quite as reliable as they used to be.

First stop though should be productreview.com.au, some pretty honest reviews on there.

    • I read almost all the comments there.

Also remember to take it with a grain of salt.
Most people generally won't review something when it works.
Most people will only review something when it doesn't work.

    • also had an Asko up and die after 4-5 years (2008-2012), replaced with a Made in Germany Bosch going strong now after 9 years (2012- )

  • I got Bosch series 6 few months back and happy so far

    • it was much cheaper before otherwise, I will buy Bosch straight away

      • Yep have a Bosch Series six too, no problems, would buy again.

  • my parents bought a Bosch dishwasher earlier this year, and its pretty damned good. It's quiet, and the best thing is, that you can do a full cycle in 30mins

    • +1

that's very fast my old dishlex needs 1.5 hours

      • +3

Hmm, I'd think the 30 minutes is a Quick cycle, not a full.

  • We got our Miele dishwasher from the clearance centre for around $700 from memory.

    Miele Clearance Centre - WA

    Open Mon-Fri 9am-5pm | Closed Weekends & Public Holidays

    17 Vostan Road
    Canning Vale, WA 6155

    • I called them this morning. The price from the Clearance Centre even higher or the same as the new on sale one. When did you buy yours? $700 is a very good price and which model?

      • It was about 2 years ago.
The Czech made model from the SA clearance centre.

        No brainer price.

    • Thanks, you are very helpful

Just get the $300 Aldi Sterling dishwasher.

3 year warranty. That's $100 per year worst case scenario.

    Rinse / repeat.

  • Spent ages researching dishwashers a few years back and ended up with an LG dishwasher, no regrets. Similar dollars to the machines you are looking at. The XD5B14WH is $746 on good guys commercial if you have access.

    • thanks I have good guys commercial

  • OP, can you let me know what you decide on? I am looking to purchase my first dishwasher too.

    • I end up got the Miele G 4203 SC for $999 from Retravision. Wynn is very helpful. To buy it directly from Miele the delivery date is 28th June which is in 2 weeks time. Buying from Retravision made a week faster which the delivery date is 22nd of Jun.

    • And the best they can do is $950 include delivery for the BOSCH SMS66JI01A. For the $50 difference I finally choose Miele

      • Thanks for the update.

  • How does the Miele compare to the Bosch?

    • Honestly, I don't know. Only thing I know is all the salespeople said Miele is much better than Bosch, I don't trust them but I don't know which is better.

  • Get a Siemens - very similar to Bosch but longer warranty. The repairman for our previous dishwasher also did warranty repairs and recommended it as with was the brand he saw least too.

    • thanks Savage, I searched on google the only place I can find which sale Siemens is winning appliances. And also not many reviews on produce review. I think maybe the reason why the repairman saw least of Siemens is not many people use it.

  • Visit forums, look at feedback. Look at the actual manufacturer and specific product. Look at its construction, what it has to offer, its innovations, practicality, materials used, warranty duration, back up service, etc.

    • thanks, :) I think I need a degree

  • We had a Miele which died (F14 Error) within 6 years.
Replaced it with a Bosch SMS46KI02A. Couldn't be happier with the Bosch and love the top cuttlery tray!

    • +1

the Miele also has the top cuttlery tray

  • I have had asko for 3 years with no problems and old one is asko 12 years old and still goes. Never had a service call for either. My family also had Miele and that lasted for 20 years before being replaced by a new Miele. We both find cleaning depends on the quality of the dishwasher capsules we use as much as the dishwasher and both easy to use. I suspect the old models will last longer than the new ones as they seem more solid built.
