How Do I Get an Itemised Quote to Claim on AmEx Screen Replacement Insurance? (Galaxy S20)

Hi, unfortunately I've cracked my Galaxy S20 plus screen, fortunately I have AmEx screen replacement insurance.

Can anyone help me with this process?

Samsung only give me a link to a page that lists screen replacement prices and that's not enough for Chubb (the AmEx insurer). They require an itemised quote, how do I get that from Samsung? Or do I repair it completely and then claim the insurance without confirmation to go ahead from Chubb?

Also, how long would a screen replacement take if I took it to a Samsung store?

Thank you

      • Edit. Full response below

  • Wouldn't be surprised if it was 2-4 weeks

  • Pretty sure you have to send them the actual repair receipt. Then you'll be reimbursed.

Phone has to be paid for by amex, including the phone plan.

    I've done this.
Fill out online claim form - chubb, from memory. Get the repair done yourself and the receipt should clearly state broken screen repair or something similar, this is a must, otherwise no refund.
Send receipt to them, they'll take their time and eventually pay.
No issues with the process, good people, straightforward.

    • Claim form wants a quote to fix it. Samsung won't quote though

      • Just provide a web link with pricing on it as the quote. Doesn't have to be the one you end up using.

And it's much easier to ask these questions to chubb directly.

  • Can you check for authorised repairers? They will be able to provide a quote.

    • Good idea. But there's a Samsung store near me. Would another repairer use OEM screen?

      • As long as it's an authorised dealer I believe they would. Best to ask.

I've gone through this process. My receipt was from one of those generic repair places in a shopping mall. The line item only said "Samsung screen replacement : $XX" and that was enough for the claim to be approved.
