What would be the best way to insulate glass windows/ doors from sound apart from glazing?

  • There is a facebook group somewhere. Once of the things was bubble wrap as it build a barrier.

    • This is also good for temperature insulation too.

    • Have heard of the bubble wrap, might try that

  • sorry - missed the 'for sound' put a link for thermal insulation

  • Depends what you are trying to achieve. Double glazing, make sure it is sealed, prevent the sound from hitting the window are some ideas.

    • To stop noise, apart from using double glazing

      • I get that, but how much noise, what sort of noise etc.

Eg do you back into a train line, knocking out noise from a rattling house is hard. Just traffic noise from a block or two away is a lot easier.

        • It's an apartment, wanting to block out street/ surrounding noise

  • +1

You can get noise curtains, extremely thick and heavy. Or perhaps use a fan or some other constant noise device to drown out external sounds. Or put a fence up in front of the noise source

  • When doing glass repair Brisbane Southside or replacement you can opt for a good quality glass that will add more protection.
