One of the best sequels to a long dormant franchise thats been on a massive resurgence. game is way harder than the og 3 though and some times that's good some times its annoying

For most people, I would avoid this. I am a HUGE crash fan, I played the ps1 games obsessively as a child and bought all the remakes, including this title on release.
It's just too hard, but not in a fun way. For example, hiding boxes completely off screen, but just everywhere. It would be fine if it was done in moderation, but it's just literally everywhere. So it's really hard to collect all the boxes.
I remember reading the reviews and people saying it was too hard and mentally thinking "Yeah, but I like hard games and hard is fun and it's all just a matter of skill!" And then when I played it I was like "Oh right, they really weren't exaggerating and this isn't a matter of skill."
The levels also aren't that great. The first few worlds are fine, but as the game progresses they just become really dull. Oh, and some of the bonus levels are like… I couldn't possibly describe the difficulty. It's easily the hardest game I've ever played. Dark souls is a walk in the park compared to this.
I found the same thing with the last donkey kong game.
The SNES version is still one of my favourite games ever but the wii u/switch version i just find frustrating and stressful.
Oh yeah, absolutely. The newer Donkey Kong games have been brutal. To be fair though, the original was also very difficult. Especially those mine cart levels, you really had to perfect each jump.
Yeah that was definitely pure muscle memory on that one. I used to hold the controller sideways so only my thumb was on the jump button and do it that way.

Have you played those SNES games lately? They're way more punishing than the Wii/Wii U DK games. You probably just had more patience when you were a kid.
That IS possible, but I dunno. I actually do play the SNES games pretty regularly on my Wii U. The new one is just… next level tough imo.

I don't know, but I do agree that the difficulty on the this game is amped up. It does ruin the enjoyment somewhat. On the PSX and PS2, i'd actually complete the games (all the Crash Bandicoots, Spyro's, etc), but not on the latest versions of the games series. They become difficult, frustrating and down right annoying to the point I feel like throwing my controller at the screen lol
