How much will she be using the secondary home phone?

    • occaisonally…it just needs to be an 'easy to answer' option, as she finds it hard to get to phone number one…

Do you mean a second handset?

    • yep….she has one phone that is connected via a 'cord' to her modem…but needs the second phone in another room..

Sounds like you are asking about another handset that can be used in the house which is "cordless".

The best cordless phone is a Dect6 phone as it doesnt interfere with any wifi being used for the internet and also any microwave ovens.

You will find that the base station will be conected to the modem, and the extra handset can be placed anywhere in the house (of course depending on how far away it is from the base)

This will replace the existing handset, unless you get a phone line double adapter.

If you buy a single cordless phone, then you will have to return it to the base everytime to keep it charged up.

depending on how much you want to spend there is a panasonic two handset one at Amazon for $59

Err they are DECT phones, not wifi.

Look on the Telstra website, they sell two different types of cordless phones compatible with their modems and you can purchase an additional handset for both.
One of them might even be the handset they already have

  • thanks guys :)

My understanding is that it needs to be a DECT 2 phone to work wireless with the Telstra smart modem. May be best to visit a Telstra store to confirm and see what they have available?

    • Well no one told my panasonic Dect6 that it wasnt allowed to work as it does…
