Ikea Family Deal - 20% off ALL GALANT Desks

60

I think these are quite decent desks. They are one of the few IKEA items that don't wobble and feel like they're about to collapse/topple over.

If you're like me who's been keeping an eye out on a price-drop for one of these, now's your opportunity!

You need to be a member of IKEA family to get this deal. Free registration here:

ive been looking at the galant range for a while. theyre simplistic and plain which is good, but i find theyre waaayyy too overpriced.

if anyones interested in them, have a look at ebay, there seems to be a fair few popping up and theyre MUCH cheaper

i just bought 2 galant desks off ebay.
    1 x glass rectangular galant for $125 - retails at $420
    1 x corner galant w/ extensions making it 2x2metres for $125 - retails at $600-700

I have a GALANT desk. I spent ages looking at all kinds of desks (not just from IKEA) until I settled with the GALANT range.

I wanted a simple, large desk with lots of room underneath.
I also wanted a nice place to put my PC.

    I am using this:

    plus this great computer holder:
    http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/70182624/

It allows you to get to the back of the PC easily for plugging in cables or whatever. It's hidden away, yet still accessible, and that's why I like it so much.

My Ozbargain tip, I'd go with the A frame legs. They're almost half the price of the other legs, and they're sturdy and easy to adjust.

    • What do you use for drawers? How long have you had it for, and does it bend from weight? I have 2 screens and this can be too much for a lot of table tops. Cheers for your review; very informative.

I have the right hand corner desk, with half moon table end and that same computer holder. Definately agree on A frame legs as well.

this is such a practical desk and the design is very clean with the computer hangung underneath the half moon end. You can also get a cable management system that hangs at the back of the desk, though I didn't bother with that.

      • Thanks guys. Definitely will check this out. Adamiam, some great pics. I like these setups. Hoping for something uncluttered but with good storage. Thanks for taking the time to share your research.

        • No worries, glad I could help :)

The signup page for Ikea Family doesn't use https, yet asks for all sorts of personal info, including birthday, address etc.

    No thanks.

    • Mate just sign up in store. Each one has multiple kiosks at the entry and cafe areas.
