Two different 4 Bay NAS' on sale from TerraMaster. The F4-422 expires 11:35PM AEST, while the F4-210 expires 9:35PM AEST.

The F4-422 4 Bay NAS features an Intel Celeron J3455 quad-core CPU, a single 10GbE LAN port and two 1GbE LAN ports, 4GB RAM (upgradable) and 2 USB 3.0 ports on the rear. This NAS is the high end model from TerraMaster suitable for fast data transfer, Plex Transcoding, file storage, backups, Docker and more. It supports RAID, JBOD, Single and SSD cache. It's also possible to load another OS like Synology DSM or TrueNAS unofficially.

The F4-210 4 Bay NAS features a Realtek RTD1296 Quad-Core ARM CPU, 2GB RAM, 1GbE LAN and 2 USB 3.0 ports on the rear. This TerraMaster's entry level NAS and suitable for all the basics such as file storage and backups. It supports RAID, JBOD, Single and SSD cache.

  Obviously the Synology D920+ for $689.70 from Newegg US is a good buy too with their excellent OS. It's always good to offer cheaper alternatives in my opinion.

  Picked up the 4-bay one (1GB RAM) earlier today for $287, got $20 off with the AMEX offer and $20 cashback through Cashrewards.

  Can't complain, only need a basic secondary NAS to back up the main NAS. Hopefully the software isn't too crap.

    The app ecosystem on the ARM NAS drives is smaller than the x86 NAS drives but the software as a whole remains mostly the same. Recently they reworked the entire GUI and have added a heap of new features. They're really responsive to issues/feature requests on their forum.

    I picked up the 5 bay last year for backing up main nas. Can boot another OS (unRAID for me) like freenas if you want to.

      I'm running unraid on my main NAS which I love.

      Was it easy to get running on the 5-bay Terra? Does it run well on the Intel CPU?

      Guide to what? How crap the Terramaster was or DIY nas. DIY NAS is easy put a many drives as you want into a PC and run TrueNAS or Unraid or Linux whatever you want and profit.

  Wouldn’t the Synology DS420J be a better option than the f4-210, in terms of an entry level 4 bay?

  The ds420J can be purchase for under $400 at multiple stores.

  Late to the party, but…
  I have an F5-410, and Terra Master are not great at resolving issues or designing with a good UX.
  You can check out their forum to see reports of issues that they don't address, or are taking a long time to address.

  If you get one of their NASs, be mindful of things like:
  - Google Drive sync app causes regular maxing out of CPU usage.
  - DropBox sync app causes regular maxing out of CPU usage.
  - Forcing the web UI to https requires modification of nginx configuration via command line.
  - Apps they develop for their OS are sometimes created and then left without updates.
