Samsung S2 Tablet Screen Not Switching on All The Time When Power on

My Samsung S2 tablet (9.7" has SIM and SD card) having some issues with the screen. Eg when power switch is pressed it is not bringing up the display but if I try few times it will display. Also when it goes into sleep mode it will not awake when home or power button is pressed. Sometimes there are lines on the screen when you power on the tablet.

Took it to the Samsung repairer, they said it is screen problem and needs screen replacement and will cost about $260, they will give 3 months warranty. My question is it worth get it repaired or get a new tablet. One thing I noticed is when the tablet switches on properly after few tries, then every thing is fine, until it goes back into sleep mode when I leave it for sometime, then it is difficult to awake the screen. Checking on Google, some suggest that there may be some loose connection to the screen.

Please help me with your technical knowledge. It is not under warranty now.

Thanks

The S2 is a 5-6 year old tablet and pretty much at the end of a typical tablet's lifecycle. Personally, instead of paying $260 to get it fixed, I'd be looking at getting a brand new one - which tablet you should choose will depend on what you use it for.
