Tripping Hazard at Gate Stopper

The piece of floor-mounted metal gate stopper has tripped many of our visitors. One was quite badly injured. Is there any way to avoid the problem? Here is the image of the metal.

Found this rubber gate stopper at Bunnings, but I don't think it will eliminate the tripping issue.

Any good ideas?

Can you fix the stopper to the gate, instead of the floor?

    • It's a rental property. Can't get the owner to do anything.

  • Grind flush or remove the floor stopper and mount something on the gate and gate post

  • What does it look like now? I’ve no idea if what you linked would make any difference because I don’t understand what you are trying to fix.

Replacing a metal thing with the same thing but rubber won’t help.

    • I have updated the post with an image of the metal.

      • Cool, but how does that relate to the gate swing?

        • It stops swinging the wrong way. Eg 1 Eg 2

Paint offending stopper a bright colour

And paint a box around it on the ground.

          • @Thrift: I know what it does. What I dont know is what the rest of the gate looks like to recommend an alternative.

Painting it a bright colour is not the most effective method to reduce the risk. Elimination first: remove it if not necessary.
Substitution: replace with something that does the same job a different way.
Engineering: make something that prevents it being a trip hazard. Eg ramp up the surrounding area to reduce the height of it, build some sort of guard
Administration: tell everyone it’s there and not to trip on it. Works ok until you aren’t there.
PPE: paint it a bright colour.

          • @Thrift: OK. This is what I did.

  • Tennis ball? Picturing someone try to kick it lol
