Prime Subscription Charged for but Not Requested

Has anyone else taken out a monthly Prime subscription unknowingly, or has my little green friend from Ireland ticked a box while I wasn't looking? Discovered strange debit on my card!

    Something like that.

I was looking to purchase something which required Prime a month or so ago and also I didn't complete the purchase at the time, it somehow triggered a $7 subscription for the month (I subscribe on and off as per needs/wants so they have my prime and CC details).

I was a bit cheesed off and contacted Amazon support who offered me a link to cancel and be refunded.

In the end I decided I wanted the product anyway and just kept it but cancelled before the next month was up.

I thought it was very sneaky of Amazon to trigger a subscription without me saying I want to buy this product AND I want to subscribe to Prime.

Lots of sneaky tactics on the site. I accidentally triggered a trial when I was just looking to see if shipping was going to be quicker with Prime. Got subscribed to Prime despite not checking out. And cancelling the subscription took at least three pages of "Do you really want to?"

  • Yeah FiL somehow managed to subscribe. (Spotted on CC some weeks later). Online chat resulted in a painless refund.

  • They usually refund if you contact them asap. Once I forgot to cancel my Audible trial and they refunded too.

  • Triggered a subscription when I was browsing the Amazon Prime Video catalogue on my television and clicked on play thinking it would throw up a purchase confirmation screen. Didn't ask me to confirm, just automatically purchased a month of prime. Called support straight away and cancelled the charge with no penalty, so at least the support is decent.

  • Last year I bought something on Amazon, 30 days later I was charged with the yearly amazon prime in my card. Emailed them and got a refund back
