What Is The Best 7" Android Tablet Today?

Looking for a modern 7" tablet
Currently using a Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 (bought on an OzB deal of course which works well
Had it 18mths (?) BUT I don't like the wider form factor

I bought Mi Pad 4 to replace a Google Nexus 7 which basically was the perfect tab for me
I read a lot of books, watch some video and audio, plus net and socials
The 7" Nexus was the perfect book reading shape plus lighter and easy to hold with one hand

Can anyone recommend anything new in that size and shape?
I spend hours on this thing so happy to spend well to get what I want
Any suggestions welcome :)

  • Im still using a nvidia shield K1 from 2016. It's just an ebook reader now, with the occasional hookup to hdmi for displaying things at work. I'd love to replace the battery, but will probably upgrade to one of the Xiaoxin Lenovo tablets, because the bezel is starting to look much better. I've got terrific tenure out of the K1.

Its not 7 inch, and theres a reason why the mipad tablet you have is still well rated. Just get used to it, and hope the Lenovo release a 7 inch version.

    • yeah - nah
Form factor is what I am most concerned about
there are probably lots of 10"+ good tablets but I want 7"

Dunno but I am in the same boat at the moment.

I had to compromise with a Huawei Mediapad M3 8.0 inch then later got a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 inch.

I do agree 7 inch is the best hand size for me but nothing worth buying came up in my hours of research in this category unfortunately.

Hopefully someone has a better comment or answer but the two tablets I mentioned were the closest I could find also best value/cheapest.

The tablet market has lagged behind a lot the smart phone market.

I am waiting for a tablet with 12gb ram or more and the latest SoC around the 7 to 8 inch size.

For now my Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 gets a lot of usage and it still holds up but every now and then I can see it struggling but I do push my devices to their limits a lot so.

    • Exactly mate - glad to know someone else is in my boat
Android Tablets had a checkered past with development and so many crap / underpowered / bad hardware models released, the market moved away
A well-made powerful (enough) tablet is a great alternative to an iPad or mini, just like Android phones compete with iPhones now
Surely someone will make one soon, like Amazon, even if we have to flash it with Lineage etc

If you find something you like - send me a message - I will do the same!

        Will do my friend.

Oh it is gonna happen they need an ipad pro killer or at least I see it as a huge missed opportunity especially with all the stay at home orders now a tablet in bed is one of the best past times I find in these dark dark times.

Honestly I would have thought the tablet gaming industry would be booming now and they would release a gaming tablet to go with it but I guess the great minds in those companies are focusing their attentions elsewhere.

Maybe not a new nvidia shield tablet maybe then call it the nvidia cure to go with current times honestly I have lots of great ideas you hear me potential android tablet companies hire me to be your design engineer and marketing man I have the whole playbook laid out because I am the target market lol haha.

Yeah so many pc games mostly rts but also rpg and fps pc games I wish I could play on my tablet in bed because it is just so much more comfy and convenient and that is the number one thing I see people want in their lives these days just to chill and have a good time and not burn so much energy between work shifts and life etc.

Ah well.. hope you find it before I do but my gut feeling is they put all their attention into the folding phone technology that they completely forgot about gaming tablets in general and just thought gaming laptops were enough and ok.

        If you know you know.
