  • Hm, Coke bezel… tempting.

A true watch nerd would not list a deal on an invicta watch.

Their "plainer" models like the Pro Driver series are fine - as mentioned, they're running Seiko movements and the quality's fine. Many watch snobs cite their gaudy high RRP models, of which many are (to me anyway) grotesque. I've seen a few in the US at various watch retail outlets and some of the pricing is…eye watering.

If you reframe them as a maker of reasonable quality lower end autos, like the Pro Diver range sitting around the $100 - 150 range, they make sense. Something like the Invicta Shaq Diamonds (https://www.creationwatches.com/products/invicta-watches-307…) even at a 62% discount to its $1948 RRP (as I said, eye watering), not so much.

A watch nerd would, as they do. You're thinking someone who is more concerned with what the non watch nerd public thinks - someone who is driven by popular fashion (boring as bat shit and driven by 15 year olds). You're in the wrong place. Some other watch nerds: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=invicta+pro+div…

  • Seems alright for the price, 40mm maybe a touch small (got two other divers ~43mm) but may look a fine like a dressier watch.
Not really a fan of light arms on White background, harder to read quickly.

I noticed they have a few other quartz watches for similar price or slightly more, may be worth looking at. Would have thought quartz is the choice for cheap watches, easier to bang in a new battery. The service cost wouldn't be viable on cheap automatics so you'd ever up binning it.

A few years ago Invicta would have been the choice for a dead cheap sub homage with a Seiko movement. With the explosion of ridiculously cheap Chinese watches from AliExpress with superior specs, such as ceramic bezel insert and sapphire crystal, the temptation of Invicta has certainly diminished. Plus, they have that engraved branding on the side. I'd be looking at a Steeldive or Pagani sub for around the same price, or Phylida sub homage for a bit more.

    • Interesting, just watching a YouTube video on the Pagani sub from AliExpress (the green one looks good).

Wonder if these cheap Chinese Knock offs would last. Specs on paper and making one to look the same is one thing, who knows if they would fall apart internally (although apparently have a Seiko movement). Guess if you get a year or two out if them it's not bad. Either way sapphire crystal and a ceramic bezel are things you want. Usually the superlumimova is rubbish.

      • There's a gazillion reviews of the Steeldive and Pagani sub homages on Youtube. WatchNerd has even posted a Steeldive a couple of times, I think. Yesterday, during the Summer Sale, I could have bought a Pagani Sub for ~$95. Same Seiko movement as the Invicta. The longevity is fine, if not, just buy another one! Be careful about green dials as they can vary a lot in real life and in direct sun light. From green-black to a true green to a dull green-olive - check reviews.

This review campares the Pagani, Steeldive and San Martin side by side.

        • Ok not really in the market but wouldn't mind one for $100 max as another daily beater. Green is novel (my mate has a real Hulk) but agree they can look Totally different from pictures and real life. Usually would stick to Silver/black. Got a blue on blue Tissot seastar 1000 powermatic 80 that looks nice, doesn't really suit many outfits unless Business wear

        • Ps. You'd have to find the 'good' copies or credible seller's on AliExpress to make sure you get a good quality one, since there are so many sellers (applies to everything)

        • Hi mate this one Seems to be a decent example/seller, are there other names for this Seiko movement? Links in the YouTube videos could be ok. I don't mind the black and blue sub. Is USD$75 the best price, don't have any AliExpress discounts these days.

  • Just added the Invicta 47mm Black Grand Diver for $111.48 delivered.

  • Looks like I just missed the June sales for Aliexpress for their Homage watches.
Fairly keen on a Daytona 40mm white face, bit of a contrast to the watches I've got.

Just need to make sure it's the right one with the seiko movement and sapphire glass, probably can't go wrong following the links in Just One More Watch's YouTube. Likewise which exact upgraded clasp to get. Any better suggestions welcome, thanks.
