  • Can click on the $6 coupon to copy it, but no where to put it in the cart that I can see? All I have is a $1 & a $2 off coupon ($26.99 total).

Where are you supposed to apply C8J9EURT4I7B ?

On the payment page, top right of the screen.

      • Cheers. Since the other codes were prior to "buy now", I thought my browser was hiding it.

  • Thanks! Just bought one.

  • So it will support crucial p1 nvme ssd and sata as well?

    • Yes. It will only fit one at a time.

  • Thanks OP, perfect EOFY purchase for me.

  • What's the difference between this cheaper enclosure from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com.au/UGREEN-Enclosure-Aluminum-External…

      This supports NVMe

  • This or the Asus one from last night for $59 delivered?

I assume both support NVMe and SSD. So just comes down to costs/looks.?

The ASUS will only support M.2 NVMe SSDs. This ORICO one will support M.2 SATA and M.2 NVMe.

      • Thanks, got my SSD/Sata mixed up! Bought the Orico one

    • Asus doesn't support SATA

I got one of these - works fantastic with the NVMe drive that I put in it. Be aware that the cable you use will also determine the speeds you get to - when I first set it up I used the fancy charging cables I had laying around. Speeds were abysmal - then I switched to the cable that was supplied with the drive case and it blew my mind how fast it was transferring files.

    • Which drive you using?

      • I can't actually remember lol - it's a 500GB drive though, and it's not the top of the line but it's pretty damn fast.

I copy video files under 30sec now, on the old drives, it was around 2-3min. Now it's about 19-30 sec. Smaller 1GB files are copied before the animation is even finished.

  • Ordered one. It says for new drive , partition needs to be done so how can it be done without inserting into laptop?

    • If you have access to a computer and it happens to be running Windows, then you can plug the USB enclosure into the computer and use Disk Management to format it. You'll see in there unallocated space that can be formatted.

To create and format a new partition (volume)

      • Thanks for that. I just read it cannot read new drive without partition so i thought it needs to be inserted into laptop. But i think partition can be done using enclosure

        • Yep you can do it fine with an enclosure. I do it all the time with USB to SATA enclosures.

  • Any idea on which Controller Scheme Chipset the enclosure has?

    • Normally they say if they're using Realtek and the more expensive dual protocol models do. So I'd say this is likely JMicron JMS583.

      • Thanks, was curious as I recently purchase the clear case model, which cost more but has the RTL9210B Controller.

        • The Realtek will certainly consume less power and run cooler than the JMicron so you made a good buy there. I believe the ASUS also uses Realtek. Asmedia is a good option too.

          • @Clear: The ASUS ROG Strix Arion uses the Asmedia ASM2362.

            • @RichardL: Oh really? I tried finding that out and couldn't.

  • The store just sent me a message for this as $19.99 - coupon code: C8J9EURT4I7B
