6 Month Delay on Dell PC. What Do?

Like others here, I have been duped by Dell and asked to wait 6 months for the delivery of my PC. I feel like I should just get a refund at this stage.

They offered someone in the same boat as me a mouse as compensation. That's a bit of a joke I feel. Should I just cancel my order? Looks like they may make me fight for a refund, so I may need to do a chargeback

  • Call them for an order update?

    • Just got it

      • Nothing to do other than cancel your order and move on, Dell and other OEM's are experiencing silicon supply issues.

        We've had an order of 250+ Latitude laptops delayed; May -> mid-June -> mid-July -> mid-October now.

    What was the PC?

I'd call and cancel. There are acceptable delivery times under consumer law which this definitely wouldn't meet.

    • +1 to this (assuming it wasn't mentioned in the ad/listing/whatever).

    • Already emailed to cancel

6 months wait? wtf just cancel and move on with your life.

  • They asked, you can reject and ask for a refund…. Is the deal is worth waiting 6 months for?

    • They didn't ask me. They sent an email with a new delivery date. I've contacted them and asked for a refund but they refuse to do it over mail

Like others here, I have been duped by Dell and asked to wait 6 months for the delivery of my PC.

        Didn't you say they asked?

If they refuse to do it over email then ring them and ask for a refund.

        • my bad on the wording. i missed their call today. ill call toomorrow

      • giant Bastards. Will they ever wait for a consumer to pay after six months??. All this crap has to be stopped one day or another

  • supply chain issues are everywhere now it seems, including consumer markets

Even techfast doesn't make people wait 6 months

    Definitely cancel.

6 months is an eternity in the PC field. That PC could be worth 20% less by the time you get it.

There were 2 others on here who cancelled their Dell orders after being told November delivery…. It be obsolete by then!

    • successfully? i read that one got told that only the pc portion could be cancelled (i also got a bundle)

      • I believe so.
One of them was discussing, he was asking Techfast about delivery times as he'd cancelled his Dull order after he was told November delivery..

You could almost get a Toyota hybrid delivered in that time.

  • If delivery date was changed from what was advertised when placing your order. you are entitled to a full refund if not acceptable. 6 months is not acceptable. But will you be able to get a similar spec PC within 6 months. If not may as well keep the order.

    • At this rate with pc prices as they are, I'll probably stick with my current setup until it dies

  • The main issue is if they have already charged your credit card.

Because it is entirely possible you would have to start paying your credit card closing balance BEFORE you even get your product.

And if you do pay that balance and then they delayed it further, you cannot really cancel because if you do, that means you will end up getting a credit balance in your credit card statement and getting a money back on that one is even harder if it is from credit card only companies like Latitude / AMEX.

  • To anyone else in the same boat, I called 1300 303 270. After 20 minutes, they confirmed order cancellation. F

    • Are they still gonna send the mouse for your trouble? :D

      • They offered nothing. Didn't even ask why I wanted to cancel, which I guess was pretty obvious
