Afterpay Asking for Referers Email

Not sure if this is the right area to post this, my apologies.

I recently signed up to Afterpay using the OzBargain Random referral link generator (for the eBay deals).
The lucky winner was "https://fbuy.io/ap-anz/jingyu27", anyhow the referral didn't work for some reason so I got in contact with customer support and now they're essentially asking for the email of the referer and say they can't proceed without it.

Any thoughts on what I can do? They're pretty adamant about getting an email. Maybe it's time to give up lol.

Thanks

  • I got in contact with customer support

It happened to me with another site, anyway I tried with my actual friend's code, so no issue. I think this is a common practice to filter out public referral links.

  • @jingy is this your referral?

    • +1

don't think so, i didn't participate in this event

      • No worries!
Not really an event I just used the above Afterpay referral and thought maybe it belong to you :)
        Thanks for the response

  • Damn, hope this doesn't happen to me when I get around to using… Also used a random referral.

Maybe just keep calling at different times to talk to someone else and hopefully get a different response.

    • Unfortunately I went with emailing so the history is there! But the person does keep changing each time, seems like they just want an email and don't care about the referral code so much.

  • Please do not solicit referrals in the forums.

For the sake of privacy I can't give you "jingyu27"s personal details nor can I give you their username, but what I've done is sent that user a private message telling them that you are looking for them.

They will contact you on their own accord if they wish to give you their email address. The user has not been online for more than a week so it might take some time.
