Where?? Here is a list of every negative voted comment you have on your account…

30% off RRP Storewide for Club Members @ Supercheap Auto (-2)
    20% off Storewide @ Dell eBay (-1)
    Xbox Series X 1TB $749 Delivered @ Microsoft (-9) and in the same thread… (-9)

Which one was the "many negative downvotes" related to your current question?

    • The times it has happened I have went and unpublished those comments as I thought I was breaking some kind of rule

These are just 2 times where I was bombarded for negative downvotes just for asking how to get Optus Sport working with Magisk

Why is it so hard to get some help about this??

    • Are you able to help me mate please?

Yeah, unroot your phone and uninstall Magisk. There is a good chance that Optus Sport app is checking to see if the phone is rooted or has Magisk installed and locks the app out due to copyright concerns.

If you really need root access to the phone/device (which most people don't unless they are pirating) then you need to go back and look at your Magisk setup. You would most likely be better off asking this question on a dedicated device forum like XDA and a Magisk sub-forum.

This does not help me in any way, and it is not true either, people don't use root to pirate, that is probably a very small percentage of people, I have never used rooting privileges for piracy, I chose to ask this forum as I see it is a very active one compared to XDA currently and most of them are international users don't use Optus Sport where as ozbargain are more familiar with this app, I asked for help, not instructions to go backwards. Cheers

Rooting your phone has nothing to do with piracy. Not sure what you mean by that .

  • does it work without magisk installed? maybe it is scanning all the files on your device

    • It worked couple days ago before I rooted yeah, then I flashed custom recovery twrp and installed Magisk and then I had to use Magisk hide and some modules to get safety net passing and most of the apps that have verification process such as 7 eleven fuel, serviceNSW, Snapchat, Google Pay etc they all work Ive managed to pass them all, except for Optus Sport I cannot pass it everytime I try load up a live game or highlights it gives me video playback error, I have no idea how to get around this last app.

      • maybe it some drm issue

        • Do you know anything about getting around these DRM issues possibly? Any ideas would be much aporeciated

          • @Toffcuz: there's a "drm info" app on google play. install that and check the the widevine cdm security level is L1

            • @c64: Yeah I just checked now it's widevine CDM security level is L1

              • @Toffcuz: magisk hide appears to be working, drm doesn't appear to be an issue. only other thing i can think of is a network issue. do you have a firewall installed or adblocker? does it work on mobile data vs using wi-fi

                • @c64: If I turn off adblocker DNS still same result, and also same result with wifi and 4g

                • @c64: Hey mate, Optus Sport is still working from yesterday, but now when I go to that app "DRM info" now my widevine CDM security level is L3.

Is that bad, does this affect anything? I haven't noticed anything different lol

                  • @Toffcuz: L1 means you can watch the maximum resolution offered, L2 & L3 are lower resolutions (i think L3 is 480p max). google widevine l1 l2 l3

the magisk module info says that is to be expected: lower resolution vs not working at all

                    • @c64: I'm watching Brazil vs Peru live right now, and it's definitely higher than 480p, In the settings says 720p, and I'm watching on a 75 inch tv so anything under 720p will be very blurry. Maybe what you say is true, but it's not applying for me here.
                      Thanks anyways!

    • Have you tried the rootbeerfresh app to see if it picks up anything?

      • I just did it now there's 4 red X's on the following:

        Su binary
        Su exists
        Root native
        Magisk binary (experimental)

And then it says ROOTED* as a final result

      • Oh wait now I hid it from Magisk hide and now there's no red X's anymore , only green ticks and the final result is NOT ROOTED, so I guess that means I'm also passing the rootbeerfresh test too

        • If you are passing the rootbeerfresh app, then I dont think your issue has to do with the Optus app not liking your rooted phone. Maybe download the DRM Info app and see if you have compromised your phone widevine certification by rooting your phone.

          • @geek001: That's what @mtg said above and I checked as so

What else can be stopping the Optus Sport app from working because of root?

            • @Toffcuz: Sorry. Didnt see the comment above.

I am out of ideas. Maybe try reinstalling the Optus app.

Or sometimes the root checking is done on a different app. Maybe also Magisk Hide google play services or similar. I am not sure what services the Optus Sport app uses.

              • @geek001: Yeah I have tried uninstalling reinstalling and have tried hiding alot of different apps from Magisk hide including all Google Play apps and services.
Thanks anyways for your help, hopefully someone has had the same issue previously knows how to fix!

  • There is a way that you can change the filename in options. This helped me with a similar issue as I think some apps look for the Magisk apk.

    • Yeah I did this already, my Magisk is named "Settings"

  • Which phone we're talking about ?

    • Sorry I should've mentioned, it's an s9

I figured it out, if anyone needs the answer, its this module https://ibb.co/xh7Ssjm , and thats it, its got to do with DRM-protection

    • happy days

now you get the highest resolution optus offers?
