Looking for New Battery for 2017 Mazda 3 SP25

Hi guys,

I'm currently in the market for a new car battery for my Mazda3.
I've been doing some research and found that Q85 batteries would be most suitable.

SCA currently has these 3 batteries for sale, can someone recommend me which battery to choose?
Also, I can't tell the difference between battery 1 and 2, can someone enlighten me?

  • Some useful info for you here and here

  • Take your old battery in and get one with the same specs. They will dispose of your old battery for you.

Used car batteries belong in the ocean.

    • They’ll send the battery for recycling. Car batteries have one of them highest rates of recycling of any product.

    • Or take it to a scarp metal dealer. ~50c/kg at the moment. You'll get around $7

Pretty sure this car has that silly start/stop function on it, so get the battery with the highest CCA rating and the longest warranty.

  • Century's website suggests this: https://www.centurybatteries.com.au/resources/battery-finder…

    So yeah, go the Q85.

  • First one is 65Ah (https://www.batteryworld.com.au/Q85-MF-Century-ISS-EFB-batte…) while second one is 52Ah. Both have the same CCA.

    • EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery)…. whatever that is for

Had my '17 Mazda 3 serviced at the dealership not too long ago and was told the Century Q85 with 36 month warranty (option 3 from your list) is what they normally use when servicing people's cars. Was quoted ~$500 for it including installation… Obviously declined. I would go with that as it's almost half of what the stealership offers at the moment and you get an extra year of warranty compared to the other 2 options.

Went with the Varta Q85/115D23L from Batteryworld since SCA near me didnt have any stock.
Managed to price match the equivalent from Q85 Century from SCA for $240, including free installation.
