I have Surfshark and I've never had an issue nor noticed any change in my speeds and it's worked fine on every streaming service I've tried. However, I've never tried Nord so side by side I couldn't really say which is better.

  • I use nord. Sometimes it doesn’t connect properly. The other day I had to uninstall and reinstall. Other than that it’s been fine.

  • I can't stream Amazon Prime using Nord, even if I have set it to the same country (Aus). JIC you plan to stream Amazon Prime… :)

    • That's because you have to subscribe to Amazon US to access US-exclusive content from Amazon. It's Amazon's policy, not a VPN issue. I haven't seen any evidence showing anyone paying for Amazon AU being able to access US-exclusive content through any VPN, or even being in the US.

I have discussed this with Amazon and mentioned that I travel between AU and US (before covid), and the only way to access US-exclusive content is paying for Amazon US as well (which I did in the past, when I was able to watch Amazon US content using VPN).

      • Yeah nah, I'm in Australia and have an Amazon Australia account and my VPN is using an Australian server and I can't stream ANYTHING using the Amazon Prime app, just gives me a warning about using a VPN. (I didn't neg you either :) )

        • Sorry, I misread and thought you're talking about US content. That's weird Amazon AU blocks Nord AU… I used to set-up my router directly with VPN AU, but I don't use VPN AU anymore because I had to keep saying "I am not a robot" too often when browsing websites. If you use AU VPN for all your devices, has this "I am not a robot" thing been an issue?

HBO and Hulu sometimes block US servers but reconnecting to a new server solves the problem.

          • @this is us: No worries. :) Have got Nord setup in my router so all devices go through it. Haven't had too many problems, one or two websites I can't access, fixed one by changing servers and the other (officeworks) I just turn off the VPN when I need to get there (not often). Have noticed a couple of bot verification events, notably if I'm on Whonix at the time but I guess that's to be expected?

            Cheers

I can only recommend Nord and Torguard. I can play US (Hulu, HBO) without issues. It's important to clarify that you can only access Amazon US if you have US subscription, paid in USD, and VPN US active. The original Amazon database can be accessed worldwide, but country specific titles are not available by moving to a different country.

When I access Amazon using a VPN, the app offers the Amazon original database, not the US nor the AU database.

For Torguard, you will have to pay for a dedicated IP address because most IPs are blocked by the streaming services. With Nord, you don't need a dedicated IP address.

Nord is extremely professional, often updated to offer the best technology. The app is perfect for Android TV, Windows, Mac, Android phone. Speeds are pretty good and support is great.

    I have never tried Surfshark.

I got Nord 2-year subscription with 90% cashback, last year. Best value.

PureVPN is bad… I have a 5year subscription active but their apps lack many functions, and their support based in Hong Kong is annoying… They don't seem to understand how things work and haven't been able to help with some of my problems. The Android TV app is terrible and I haven't been able to watch US content. I hope they improve the service in the next years so I can use my subscription.

  • For my purposes, I still use PIA.
I guess I am used to it.
It seems very straight forward and had good incredible Black Friday deals each year.
But from my reading Nord seems to be given the thumbs up alot?
I think the software is friendly too?

  • I'm using NordVPN cause I got on to that 95% cashback, really good easy to use on the phone and pc. Can watch netflix on different regions.

  • I use Nord VPN, have a 3 year deal, which is great. I use it on a windows and mac computer. Its easy to use, and lately have been watching the euros from the UK with no problems. There's been quite a few updates lately, they have certainly made the connection faster. Thumbs up to Nord

  • Neither.

    I would highly recommend Windscribe.

  • So overall I guess nord? What time of year you guys usually got your 90%off deals for nord?

It is on 90% cashback now

      • Thank you so so much bro… you are the best haha so nord is worth going for you recon? Which one are you using?

        • I’m not using any right now, I’m trying to decide which one as well

  • I am using Surf Shark and I think its great, 2 other things as well, you can have unlimited devices and it gives Smart DNS for free (an IP address to put into Apple TV or router) to watch Netflix US

  • My Bitdefender VPN is about to expire but have just realised $39/yr probably isn't bad value based on the Nord/SS deals.

  • Guys, thanks to @Pelta just got to know that nord is running 90% Cashback. Please share your opinions if it’s worth to go with nord? Thanks in advance
