Samsung Fold 2 Screen Issue

Bought a fold 2 ten months ago and the phone developed cracks in the folding section in the middle
The assessment centre said that was physical damage not covered under warranty and I escalated it to samsung who said physical damage was not covered
But the physical damage is in the folding area on the crease in the inside screen
The pictures they sent me show that the screen has multiple cracks right in the middle on a straight line which is potentially the screen is cracking under normal operation of folding and unfolding
I have tried multiple avenues over the past week
Raised a case with accc
But is there anything you guys suggest I do in the meantime

    1. Don't buy gimmick phones

    2. Take to Xcat

    • +3

I made sure to not buy the 1st version mate
Was waiting until the issues were resolved

What do you mean by Take to XCat?

      • Obviously that didn't work. It's still a gimmick phone.

Point is, take it to xcat. Once they see you're serious, they'll probably just give you a refund, cheaper and easier for them, than sending someone to explain that a phone that's meant to fold, fails when it folds.

I see you are in melbourne, in your case, it's VCAT you want.

        • lol spoken by someone who has never used a folding phone before.

Unfortunately faults happen and that really sucks.

Since it's in the first year however, you do qualify for their once off Premier screen replacement (I know you still have to pay but it depends on how certain you are that you didn't cause the physical cracks).

Otherwise, wait from some assistance from CA Victoria.

          • @fatal: I think I'll pay for it and hope to get a refund once the CA VIC resolution is out

          • @fatal: I've got the first gen. Dropped it a couple of times. Still good all around.

            • @mbck: Yup, I've been running the Fold 2 since launch. No issues and would not go back to a non-folding phone.

              • @fatal: Loved the phone but would-be been better if we got good customer service from samsung
I'll probably stick with foldable too tbh

          • @fatal:

lol spoken by someone who has never used a folding phone before.

            Why would I want to?

      • But they weren't resolved and probably won't be for years.

    It's under warranty then.

The assessment centre said that was physical damage not covered under warranty and I escalated it to samsung who said physical damage was not covered

That sounds like BS, that physical part is the actual function of the phone - lol.

I always thought those folded phones screens isn't durable no matter what… you see many others experienced the same, from posts on reddit, youtube…

    good luck!

  • I hate to say it…

    A Current Affair

all these companies care about is bad press.

Do not give up, but don't hold your breath for ACCC - they have a 10 week backlog

  • I have raised a complaint with accc and consumer affairs Victoria
Hoping to hear from them in a couple of weeks
Would vcat be more the way to go?

    • ACCC deals with large and systemic issues and won't get involved with single consumer issues. They will 100% refer you to the state fair trading body.
Consumer affairs is where you will likely get your resolution.

    • in my experience they didnt do anything and suggested i go to court for resolution…but i was dealing with a wrecker…samsung should behave better :D

Put it on twitter, tag samsung au and samsung international…one such tweet can affect the sale of this fone so i believe they will get back to you immediately

    • Lol
      I did that
      Attn @jaehoonkwon

  • They are all starting to have this problem, flips and folds cannot handle real world use.
