92 Points Mike Bennie

A ripper value red here.

Bold, big, fleshy and full, booze soaked berries, figs and dates, smoky spice and clove/cedar wood notes abound.

It sits plush and lush in the palate and drives with thick rolls of tannin.

A trued winter warmer finding excellent balance and concentration

Bought a few cartons to try. Will let you all know how it compares to my favourites (Jim Barry Shiraz 2013 and Zonte's Footstep Chocolate Factory Shiraz 2013)

Sleepycat3 on 26/04/2019 - 15:12
Just received my order. It is a very good drop, rivalling $15 Shiraz wines. It still can't match the wines I named above, but those are 2.5 to 4x the price. I am very happy that I took a punt and purchased 3 cartons.

Djones145 on 29/04/2019 - 17:18
Made an order of the shiraz, will report back once I get it.

Djones145 on 03/05/2019 - 19:36
Recieved the wines today and cracked one open
Execellent.
Ordered 2 more cases.

Tasting Notes

The colour is a dark, inky deep red, almost black with a vibrant garnet hue.
The bouquet is lifted and intense with aromas of ripe plum and blackcurrants as well as exhibiting notes of integrated oak, mocha, white pepper and caraway seed.
The palate is extremely rich and generous with a labyrinth of dark plum, chocolate, cedar and spice.
The subtle and integrated French and American oak tannins add complexity to the secondary notes of the wine and compliment the fruit and acid structure resulting in a savoury and lingering finish.

It's the wines that Mike Bennie rejects, that makes Mike Bennie, whoever the (profanity) he is

That's a bit unfair. If you don't know who mike Bennie is, you can easily search instead of assuming.
It's the same as us saying to you that we strongly disagree with you. Whoever the (profanity) you are.

      • Hi Op, just trying to order and same issue with membership and delivery added to the total. Is a tweak needed?

        • +1

I think I worked it out -> Don’t add the membership to the cart.

  • Paringa are good for Pinot but i find their Shiraz just takes like plum juice… nothing like a Barossa Shiraz

  • +2

Title is misleading because it’s not available at the membership price when I check out

    • Please try again. we just fixed it.

  • OP, how do you get the deal?

I've never heard of Mike Bennie either, nor am I expecting a "good" wine. But for $6.60 delivered, who cares? For 6.60 you would probably get a wine that has been reviewed by your mate's grandma. Bennie may not be a Halliday, but he's still at least a someone.

I would have normally ordered but I have bought 19 bottles elsewhere in the last few days and I might get murdered if I order more.

A mid week quaffer it is. I wouldn't expect to cellar it for 10yrs and take it out to show off to the inlaws, but it's $6.60 delivered each and it's got to be better than a 6.60 red from Dan's, and you don't even need to leave your couch. Slam it down with your mid week roast. Chuck a bottle in with the spag bol sauce. It's 6.60, you won't feel bad.
