Any ideas on how this dress would look on a normal sized person?

I am thinking about buying this dress from ASOS:

The straps seem a bit long. The model is a size 4 and has no boobs at all. I am wonderin' what the dress would look like on a size 12 or even a 14 with good sized boobs. The length of the straps are really throwing me. It could be that it is hanging on a scarecrow. Anyone have any ideas on whether this dress would be awkward on a normal sized woman? I like it, but it is hard to translate.

  • Be aware that the pic of the back is not even the same dress. The fabric is different.

And seriously, it might be nit-picking, but if there are daggy loose threads (her right shoulder) in their ad that is supposed to be selling the product, I'd be concerned at the quality of the finish of what you would receive.

    • It says the back is a different fabric to the front. The front is shiny, the back appears matte.

      Body: 95% Viscose, 5% Elastane
      Back: 100% Polyester

The hemline on the back looks really poorly sewn.

The shiny material would make someone a size 14 look enormous. I'd also be worried about boob coverage, looks like something you'd have to pin to stay in place. My guess is that it's been reduced heavily because it's hard to wear and not that flattering on normal bods, that girl is about an 8 I'd estimate.

ETA: It confirms she is a UK 8, which is the same as here.

    • I agree with sparkles. It could be quite revealing.

Could probably create a similar dress with two garbage bags.

    good sized boobs

    Hmmm…. I'd say that was open to interpretation….. :)

  • i agree the shiny material would make you look even bigger, even then i dont like the design at all…

  • Okay, thanks.

I'm not a fan of the style, but I think the question with this dress isn't how big up top you are, but do you have a waist? The cut is quite drapey so you'd need to have a bit of a waistline to get that hourglass shape. Geez, listen to me sitting here in my trackies and t-shirt.
