Looks like THE ICONIC has price matched and marked the price down to $459.99. Can stack it with the $20 new user welcome code, bring this down to $439.99.

EDIT: Managed to shop through Shopback, got another $28.57 savings! All in all: $459.99-$20-$28.57 = $411.42 :))

EDIT 2 @ 9/7/21 at 3:20pm: The Iconic has just removed the Comfort Craftsman boots from their sales selection, back to original price now :/

Plenty of sizes available (G & H fit), no need to wait for the pre-order @ Oz Australia. Better hurry and grab one before the price rise next month and what a bargain for $411.42!.

Watch out for the squeek, worst Boots (for the money) I have ever bought. The best boots are a 20 year old pair of RM's I have, go figure that out.

    • Squeak from your socks on the inner or the boot itself? Generally a bit of talcum powder inside the boot stops the sweaty socks from squeaking on the inner. If the boot itself is squeaking id speak to RM and they will most likely fix or replace.

Good boots but price continues to creep up since Twiggy took over. Good buy at $350-400, not at rrp and better quality options out there. Company has been an Australian icon for decades, hope manufacturing of their boots doesn't go down the way as their other stuff and farmed out to China.

The comfort craftsman has had a $595 RRP for quite a few years, don't think twiggy can be blamed for this one. Prices rose significantly in the years following LVMH acquiring a ~80% stake in 2014. Turned into more a city/fashion brand but tbh just glad they still employee a chunk of Aussies and make the boots locally still.

    • What better options are out there for the money? Genuinely curious, I'm due for my third pair soon. It's been… 7 years since the last…

      • RM for around $400. I've had 3 pairs in the past 20 years, last pair i got mid last year for $350 and hope they last for 7 years :)

Good alternative around $350-400 - Meermin. I have a few of their shoes including a pair of boots and nothing comes close to quality at that price (including shipping). Only issue is fit as online only but I have had nil issues.

      • When they're on special get Church's; infinitely better made, more comfortable Chelsea boot (they'll set you back a bit more but you won't look back). They also look nicer than RM Williams in my opinion. For the same money Barker and Alfred Sargent rate very highly.

Another cheaper brand is Loakes but I'd rather go more expensive (like the above) or cheaper (see below) than buy Loakes. I got a pair of English made Loakes from DJs for $200 years ago and they are a fantastic for that price

I'm just a fan of most UK made good-year welted shoes; they built like tanks (esp. with rubber soles). I'd take an English made Chelsea from the above brands over RM Williams any day

Best BFYB shoes though are Herring Shoes' own brand when they are on special and around the ($200-250 mark). Herring's Spanish and Portuguese made shoes are also very good. Herring currently has a sale and they've got some Chelseas for the $153 mark; I don't know where they're made though. Herring does great post-sales support. Their postage is steep but if you get more than one pair it works out.

  • Is sizing in au or rm sizing?

    • AU/UK.

    • Both AU and RM sizing are the same as per the RM Williams website size chart

    • RM sizing = AU sizing

  • New to Australia
Why are these so costly? What justifies their price? Quality, comfort, locally made, etc.?

    • +1

It can be hard to define. Iconic Australian? Hmm… maybe. Appearance? Well, that's subjective. I can confirm they are a quality item - I've just had the elastic replaced by RM Williams in a pair that is over 20 years old - and still look GOOD! I have three pairs of different types and love wearing them. Again, subjective.

      • That's probably because you got RM Williams when they were very well made

This is what the boots would look like if Wolverine took a dislike to 'em!

Can anyone confirm this rumoured price rise on August 1st? I don’t NEED a pair right now, but may next year as I potentially start a new job (requiring more formal attire)

  • Can you use the welcome code and still get the cash back through Shopback

    • You won't get cashback, the code has to be listed on the Shopback site or it will be rejected later.

      • I purchased mine via the ShopBack app and I used the welcome code at checkout. Still got my cashback of $28.57 tho

        • That doesn't mean anything, you can't withdraw that amount, they can reject it within 75 days.

          • @eddieaus: Fair fair, mine said $28.57 cashback is tracked, will see whether I can withdraw this in 75 days

    • yes, the code appears to be listed on the site.

  • Looks like it's all chisel square toe style. I wanted the round toe option, does RMW make them in the comfort craftman model?

      Comfort Turnout - round toe
      Comfort Craftsman - chisel toe

  • Wouldn't stack with referral code for me

    • Referral code doesn’t work, welcome code works

      • too late for me :(

Underrated deal.. particularly if you have a 20% off birthday code bringing them down to $368 ;)

    • +1

Was gonna stack with that but didn’t have any birthdays coming up sadly :/
