23rd overall on BoardGameGeek

Was looking for something that was a co-op game for 2 players and this was one of the highest rated options. Common complaint is that it's a little difficult to get going, otherwise stellar reviews. $70ish bucks elsewhere

It's normally that price and has been cheaper (https://www.boardgameoracle.com/en-AU/boardgame/price/g3kfgH…)

I'd also wait for the revised core set if you would like to play with more than just two people. Not a game I'd advise those unfamiliar with modern board games to start with due to the complexity as something like Pandemic/Horrified or even Gloomhaven JOTL is better if Co-ops are your jam.

    • I'm unfamiliar with the card game, but have played the board game. This has been on my radar for a while but its the first I'm hearing of a revised core set? Whats the dealio?

"To be honest, nothing about the game itself has changed. This is still the same Arkham Horror: The Card Game that many have come to know and love over the past five years, and none of the cards included in the Revised Core Set are new to the game. The rules are the same, the campaign is the same, the experience is the same. Even the cards are mostly the same, with the only difference being the inclusion of a handful of higher-level cards from some of the game’s earlier expansions to give newer players more options when spending experience. But even then, these cards already exist as part of the game, which means if you already have all the existing Arkham Horror LCG products, then there will not be anything in the Revised Core Set that you need for yourself."

I've been playing this for free with friends via Tabletop Simulator. I would warn newcomers that this is a heavily expansion based game, so while the initial cost might be low to actually get the full experience you will need to buy the rest.

  • Any 2 player games that take awhile to play?

  • Amazing game, and worth every dollar you sink into the expansions.

If you want a similar themed co-op game that is very easy to get into I'd highly recommend Mansions of Madness (2nd ed)

  • Good price - but Imagine having a friend to coop with :(

    • This is actually a great game for solo. Just run with 2 characters.
