Solid remake, though still very much old-school in it's mechanics and the infamous loading screen doors. If you can tolerate those (particularly the latter) I say go for it.

The the door animation every time you transition to a new room is horrible. Worse part is that it's completely unnecessary, modern hardware can load the next area almost instantly. Maybe it was necessary on the GameCube version but it should be have been disabled (or at least have an option to disable it) in the new version.
Played Resident Evil Zero on PC recently, thankfully someone made a door skip mod which is really awesome

      • It's not unnecessary, the game developers implement the door animation to create suspense for the players. For newcomers, they don't know what's ahead of them.

Plus, if you were a classic Resi fan you know this is iconic to the series

        • It was far more frustrating than suspense building. It might be acceptable if you're entering a new area for the first time but with backtracking it was just creating unnecessary breaks which actually hampered the pacing imo. It would be nice to have an option to turn off the door animations or play only the first time entering/after events that replenish enemies.

  • I bought the switch version so idk if it's the same, the maps in the remastered version differ significantly from the original fyi

A bit bummed cos I just wanna play the old school original as I memorised (mostly) the entire walk-thru lol

    • Are you comparing it to the original 1996 or the 2002 remake?
This one is a remaster of the 2002 remake

  • i say wait for the RE 0 and RE1 combo to go on sale. would be slightly more bang for buck

  • a ps5 upgrade to 60fps would be nice…
