Unpopular opinion, pay MLS, get better public hospital service for ALL.

Good idea, except for the fact that you end up paying twice for the same service covered by the medicare levy.

      Person earning $90,000 - Medicare levy = $1800
      Person earning $91,000 - Medicare levy + MLS = $1800 + $900 = $2700, you've effectively been taxed 90% for your final $1000

It's set up by Private insurance lobbyists to support their financially unviable system.
It's a transfer of wealth from those trying to pay off mortgage debt to support those pensioners or those that are more of a burden on the health system. Yes it's good to look after the older generation and those not so well off, but it is a bit of a kick in the guts when they've grown up with significantly cheaper housing and education as well as living costs.

The fact that the price quoted for health insurance fluctuates based on your income illustrates this, private companies are cashing in on the fact that they know the government will tax you x amount, so they offer trash policies for x-$10 so people will technically still be out ahead (just) and have health insurance that they'll likely never use, basically free money to the insurers. Our health system is already one of the best in the world without a 2 tier system. It never has and never will work.

the MLS only goes to general revenue, not specifically allocated to medicare.

Make changes by voting and participating in civic duties like sending letters to your member of parliament . Just passively paying tax with no civic input on your end doesn't make the system better.
