  • One per person, per eBay account…tried to buy two….denied! Still a good buy imo

EDIT: I then went into SS directly and purchased directly…zero dramaz!

good price but be aware that the write speeds are not that great

  • -1

    Ok speeds with 4.3MB Write/ 14 Read

    To the "REP" danilochan,
How about putting the 32GB version on special?

    Say, $26.00 delivered?!?

  • +1

They may not be the fastest AND they can snap off a key-chain (Hint: use a flexible attachment instead) BUT they wash well! [Done that twice with no ill effects… Phew!]

  • Good price and don't mind the slow speed. Ordered one.

  • +4

My quickest OzBargain purchase ever. I just slammed through the eBay/PayPal checkout so fast. No contemplating this bargain for me. Great deal. Thanks!

    • +9

Then how about giving a "+" to the deal quickly ;)

  • -6

Is this USB 2 or USB 3?

    • +7

      Srsly?

      • -1

        First learn to type.

And yes, SERIOUSLY. If its USB2, it should state it so people dont have to go digging for that info, even though you may believe that we should all expect it to be USB2 at this price.

        • +2

With 4MB/s write speed (as mentioned above) what exactly would you gain from a USB 3 interface?

        • +1

u dun deserve my effort to spell da full word. ;)

        • +7

I like how you criticised him for shortening a word, even though it was done satirically, and then proceeded to do it yourself.

Also, 'it's' and 'don't', but you're the typing king so carry on.

  • Seen and conquered. Thanks!

  • +3

Purchased. Added to my flash drive collection.

  • ordered one.

  • My old 8gb cruzer blade gave me so many problems, but this is a good deal

  • +1

please dont make me buy you :(

  • +1

Saw the deal. Clicked the deal. Bought the deal. No thinking needed. Thanks!

  • "Up to 15MB/s read speed. Up to 10 MB/sec write speed applies to the first 20 MB of data transfer. Based on SanDisk internal testing"

Loooool, gotta leave comp on overnight to transfer any decent files

    • i've got one of these & dont find them slow at all.

      • +1

au contraire. I have one of these, the write speeds are really quite slow. It really depends what you are moving. Also, putting it on my key chain, the plastic frame around the usb has cracked (not that it impacts the ability of the drive to work)

        • can also depend on how the drive is formatted.
usually with some trial and error you can match the stated specs with the right file system and large files.

    • Also better feedback rating!

  • -8
  • Too bad I just ordered a 8gb one last week from them (which is yet to be posted btw)

  • Done!

  • +8

Even cheaper here! posted on shopping express facebook http://bit.ly/AoErTB

    • Damn … already bought 5 mins ago :(

    • rep fights back, it is $10.95 now, But I bought it for $12.95 an hour ago, hope they can refund the difference

      • the different will be credit back to you shoppingsquare account + Bonus $5
So, total of $8 credit if you bought it @ $12.95

        • +1

hmm if we brought it off ebay, how do you guys know our SS account details (if we have one that is)

        • Same here…I got it for $12.95 on ebay

  • 4meg writes are ridiculous.
MY old 8 gig cruzer wrote 10mb.
    Considering one still for $12.

  • It's cheaper on SS now. $10.95 on the eBay link provided in the OP.

    • +2

Yes, and we will issue store credit to each buyers.

$8 store credit for buyer paid for $12.95
$6 store credit for buyer paid for $10.95

Only Cost you $4.95 each now.

      • Is the price going to be reduced at shoppingsquare.com.au as well? Or is it eBay only?

      • You mentioned only 2x per customer, but the Ebay checkout only allowed 1 unit (I followed your link). What to do?

How will the store credit work with the Ebay purchases?

        • If you already got shopppingsquare account (registered with the same e-mail as your ebay account) and paid via ebay. the credit will be automatically available by 1st March 2012

If you don't have shoppingsquare account and paid via eBay, just need to login to ShoppingSquare.com.au by 1st March 2012, The Store credit will be available in the Shoppingsquare account.

      • sounds good, thanks

  • Whats with the following message on eBay?

"Sorry, you are not allowed to purchase this item
This item is only available to buyers who have not purchased 1 or more items from this seller in the past 10 days."

    • same here

      • only allowed to buy one from Ebay, and not sure how the store credit works with the Ebay purchases.

  • Price still showing as $12.95 and not $10.95 on the SS website http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_276244_SanDisk_Cruzer_Bla…

    • same here, but the rep said :

Yes, and we will issue store credit to each buyers.

$8 store credit for buyer paid for $12.95
$6 store credit for buyer paid for $10.95

Only Cost you $4.95 each now.

      • +5

He said only $4.95 out of your pocket, but that's not true, it's still $10.95 out of your pocket and then money off a future buy

        • what can you get for $4.95?
so its not a rebate, more of a spend more with us if theres nothing at 4.95

      • +1

You get $8 back per piece, not $4.95

  • How do you get store credit when you bought from ebay without signing into the SS website?
Will the rebate coupon be mailed to the ebay/paypal email address??

  • +1

I bought for $12.95 when do I receive the $8 store credit will I receive notification by email

    • The notification of the store credit will be sent to buyer via e-mail once issued.

  • Just tried to purchase 2 via ebay, got a message saying I wasn't allowed to buy them, product is only for people who have not purchased 1 or more items in the last 10 days or something along those lines. Have never purchased from you before so I don't know wtf it's on about.

    • They seem to allow only 1 on Ebay. And on their website it was just shown as 'sold out'. So only 1 per person now…

  • +1

Hey OP why don't you allow buyers to bundle another smaller USB drive if they want rather than receiving store credit later. So that both can be shipped at once and buyers don't have to pay shipping separately.

  • +4

very tempting at $11… but what am i going to buy with the store credit of $6…
why not just send me two of them ;)

    • +1

That's kinda what I'm trying to work out as well, looking through the site for something else I might be interested (for when the credit arrives) but having trouble locating anything of interest that isn't overpriced or with ridiculous shipping costs.

Found something for $25 but shipping is $15 so it's no longer a $25 item, at $40 I'll pass. Also finding myself on pages where 20 items are listed but 18 of them are "sold out". Frustrating stuff indeed. How long do they leave "sold out" items in lists / searches? Doesn't look like they ever remove them.

Look at the SSD's for example, not one in stock and the prices have to be months old yet they are all still "coming soon".

    • +3

You have to wait until they have a promo.

For example, the free shipping days for MicroSD cards, etc.

  • Has anyone used one of these on Xbox 360 S?
Was the write speed too slow?
    Thanks

  • Strange - SS website says sold out but Ebay has 10+

  • just made it,spq is not that efficient but still reliable

  • Hi Sales Rep danilochan
"since this post" as in the beginning of this post or after the price war?.. In the beginning would be fairer for early bird like me (Purchased at $12.95 :( )

  • cant buy more than 1 :( too bad

  • To clarify, the price of the USB stick is NOT $4.95 after rebate. You actually have to buy 1 usb stick at full price to receive Store Credit Rebate. Therefore, your SECOND usb stick will be $4.95.

So it would make sense to buy two USB sticks at $10.95 with $6 rebate ($12 total rebate) then purchase an additional usb stick using store credit. Average price per unit = $7.30.

    Bazinga!

    • +7

Store credit only available after 1st of March… That's how they counter your OZBargained…

  • put stock in the SS link please!

  • Baa

  • Nice, just got the 'Shipped' confirmation email… fast service.

    • Did you buy via Ebay or directly? I still have no 'Shipped' confirmation…

  • These little flash drives are just the right size (physically), I already have 3… now it's 4 :)

  • +1

A store credit it far from making it $4.95, we still need to spend it at your (overpriced) store.

    • +1

To be honest: ShoppingSquare is in the business of selling things at a profit. There probably isn't much in it for them at $10.95 and $4.95 would have to be a loss.
So yes, the $4.95 is a promotional gimmick. And I agree, it should not be called 'out of pocket'.

All up this is a good deal nevertheless, well worth of a '+' vote. I gave it some thought at $12.95. I snapped it up at $10.95, before even knowing about the store credit. Whether I ever use those $6 will depend on whether they have any good specials later on.

The drive is not fast by any means, but it is reliable and the form factor is a big bonus over the cruzer for example.

      • +2

Frankly, I suspect they make any profit out of it after ebay/paypal/postage fees but it's an excellent marketing exposure to generate heaps of traffics to their future sales!

        • +1

Absolutely, and giving you a $6 store credit to come back and check out what they have for sale is the smart thing to do.

  • Looks like Out of Stock on Shopping Square.

  • Mr rep, can u extend this special offer for one more day?

  • Beware this could be a scam by shoppingsquare!

I emailed them about the rebate after making my purchase on ebay and this was the response I got:
    Hi,

Please be informed that our prices are different on eBay and on our ownwebsite. Therefore, we can not offer you any refund.

    Thank you

    Will the rep please respond?

    • What was the question you asked? Still a while to go till 1st of March…

  • Anyone get an email stating its been posted yet? In both eBay & SS there is nothing either.

    • just now received the shipping confirmation

    • Still waiting for my shipping confirmation, bought on eBay

  • Got mine today.

  • Did anyone get their store credit yet?

    • not me

    SPEED TEST RESULTS

I got one this week - Sandisk Cruzer Blade 16GB USB 2.0

    NIRSOFT USB Deview…

    4.66MB/sec Write - 17.49 MB/sec Read

    HD TUNE PRO v4.6.1

Peak read about 24MB/sec for blocks over 64K in size

Write speed peaks at about 11MB/sec at 32KB, but then it drops STRAIGHT down to a flatline 2.5MB/sec for larger files 64KB and larger.

So what that means is that when you use it for anything except TINY files, the speed is absolutely frigging dreadful.

    CRYSTAL DISKMARK v3.0.1

I only tested the first 50MB, because I almost died waiting for a full test and aborted it.

    Sequential Read : 18.785 MB/s
    Sequential Write : 3.629 MB/s

    Random Read 512KB : 20.631 MB/s
    Random Write 512KB : 2.109 MB/s

    Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 3.517 MB/s
    Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 0.928 MB/s

    Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 4.129 MB/s
    Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 0.232 MB/s

    Test : 50 MB [G: 1.2% (0.2/14.9 GB)] (x1)
    Date : 2012/03/01 13:56:22
    OS : Windows XP Professional SP3 [5.1 Build 2600] (x86)

    BOTTOM LINE = PAINFULLY SLOW.

  • I've just retracted my "+" for this deal - SS are a bunch of liars and all deals from them should be banned on the basis that the site is known for fraud!

An enquiry with SS yesterday (1 March 2012) about the store coupon for $8 (paid $12.95), returned this response:

    "Hi,

Please be advised that you will receive an e-mail today confirming your store credit. Please wait until evening.

    Thank you

    Best Regards,
    Umer Akhlaq
    Customer Services Team
    Shoppingsquare.com.au (Apus Auction)"

Needless to say I received no email as of yet and a check of my SS account shows no coupon. SS should be the posterboy of how to totally screw up what would have been a great PR deal (seems all too common practioce these days).

Tomorrow I will be raising a paypal dispute in relation to the transaction. I seriously would not have bought from SS (would have bought it from the other guys they were in a price battle with) had it not been for the store credit!

    • +1

My voucher was sent to my PAYPAL email. My paypal email is different to my email I reg before on the SS website.

      Dear X

      • Paypal and SS email one and the same.

When did you get your voucher?

        • There is NO VOUCHER!
Just a suggestion, you keep referring to a voucher and coupon in your posts. As this is clearly stated to be 6000 rewards points, have you checked your My Reward Points in your SS account?

Almost all posting got the email & points. I got my 6000 from eBay purchase & PayPal. SS said to contact them if the points did not arrive, so they must be prepared for a few mistakes with so many orders.

        • brucefromaustralia - The rep in this post uses the term "store credit" and I see no reference to it "clearly" being stated to be 6000 rewards from the rep. When one looks at their SS account - there is no "credit" tab, so the assumption would be issued as a discount voucher.

Before posting anything, I checked all possible ways this could be "credited" and that included checking the reward points. To date, there is no credit applied, be it by voucher or reward points. If there is any confusion, it started from lack of details from the rep when posting the "credit". Further, the rep made reference to dollars and not points, therein suggesting further it would be by voucher and not reward points.

SS have had 2 weeks to iron out any mistakes and they nominated the date when the credit would be applied. I followed up SS on 1 March and was told again "see cut and past above" it would be applied.

To be honest, I don't particularly care except to apply it to a low value item to get my money back, but there are many alternative retailers I can choose from for any future purchases of items SS sell. As already stated, these guys go to the expense of making a good promotion and then reverse any good will from not following through. If they can't organise themselves within 2 weeks, they sound like either a two bit organisation or an extremely disorganised one one!

        • When one looks at their SS account -there is no "credit" tab, so the assumption would be issued as a discount voucher.

That's the problem with both assumptions & poorly executed promotions like this. Confused me until I got the email.

I was referring to the posts before you complained on the other deal. You had already responded to firepowered 2 days ago who posted a copy of the email setting out the store credit would be automatically given as Rewards Points. Unfortunately, firepowered responded about a 'voucher', so you still thought it was a voucher.

Sorry for giving you a hard time, but I know what happened when the lawyers started pulling what I wrote to bits - an unpleasant experience. Truth is an expensive defense!!

Contact SS, as it is a mistake by them. Mind you, when you add on the cheapest shipping ($1.95 for a memory card yesterday), there will be little left of a cheap deal. Good luck :-)
