    OOS on ebay

    • I had no issue getting one

i think they have a limit on ebay store and when out of stock they stock a few more intermittently. So if you are looking to buy, keeping it on watchlist will help.

I still don't see how people choose this over the 10.

It is noticeably younger, slightly more watery, and less complex.

Am I nuts? It seems so obvious here, but I am in the vocal minority.

10 is by far and away more watery to me. ABV would support that also (48% vs 40% for the 10).

      • I meant watery in terms of viscosity and texture, not oily, not considerable depth.

But I understand why you mistook me. I didn't mean watery as opposed to alcoholic. More the sense people mean in tasting notes, watery and 'thin' in terms of the depth of flavour and the mouthfeel.

        • I know what you meant and still disagree - to me QC is much more oily, thick and mouth-filling. Higher ABV and NCF would explain this.

I much prefer the 10 too. QC is a much younger expression. Good price for QC. If you haven’t had younger stuff it’s a way good to calibrate.

      • The QC is definitely better than many other Nas expressions and some younger whisky with an age statement, such as the lagavulin 8, which is an expected let down that I wonder why they even bothered bottling compared with the Laga 12 and 16.

Nothing wrong with QC against other young whiskys, however it's not a great value proposition, even at this price point.

Definitely try it for novelty, but don't expect much improvement over the 10, and indeed I would give a clear win to the 10. My opinion anyway.

Long time 10 fan. Bought QC based on reviews and both me and wife prefer 10. Also agree with your description.

      • It's tempting to conclude that the majority have no palate, but I'll chalk it up to preferences…while still kinda believing the former.

    • Also throwing in my 2c - I much prefer the 10yo. A friend very generously gave me a bottle of the QC but when I tasted it side by side with the 10yo I was disappointed. In particular, the smokiness of the 10yo is more noticeable.

      • If you know, you know, you know?

I will continue to think of myself as part of the sophisticated minority with a superior palate. (What a dork I am).

  • OOS for me on DM but just got it on eBay after being OOS yesterday, so seems there is still stock available intermittently on eBay

Looks like DM have pulled this particular item out of eBay Plus.
I see other items of theirs still available with eBay Plus, but no longer this item now that its back in stock.

      • yes now postage applies even for eBay Plus - they had pulled it off Plus
Now the only choice to avoid paying postage is to C&C and see if your nearby DM has it in stock.

      • Looks like it’s a glitch on DM eBay - all in stock items are no longer shown as plus items - and all oos items are still shown as plus items. Can’t be coincidence?
