  • Anyway to get it for $49 on Catch, from Target? Is that a thing?

  • +8

I don't think this games worth it to be honest. I felt like BD2's class system/job skill balance-synergy/story felt way too bland compared to the original, and other jrpgs

    • Music changed. I liked Bravely Second's music more.

Bought it, going to return and get the better deal here.

    • +6

The story is worse? Because I thought the 2nd half of BD1 was really boring. Jumping through the portal after the 5th+ time got incredibly repetitive, unless you deliberately broke the crystal early to reach the end.

    • +3

Really? Bravely Default 1 was SO boring. I can't believe I finished it.

Boring enough that I remember nothing of it other than it was boring.

      • The only issue I had with BD1 was the repeating boss fight during the latter end of the game. Other than that it was quite enjoyable.

    • +2

Lol I got up to the final boss of BD1 and lost and then rage quit.

    • +3

I agree. Bd2 is a lot more average and boring than bd1 and second. The characters are just kinda bland and the story uninteresting.

  • +1

Yeah the first one maybe better, i remember the AR effect back on the 3ds is pretty amazing. Still decent price though considering it’s a switch game

  • any different from the 3ds release?

    • +4

This is a different game to Bravely Default & Bravely Second End Layer which were on the 3ds… yeah confusing naming :)

      • wtf? really?

        • +5

Bravely Second is a sequel to Bravely Default. Bravely Default II is a separate story with a new cast of characters. The naming is a bit confusing, yeah.

          • +1

@dano: then what would the sequel to second layer be called then? third layer? or Bravely Default III?

            • +2

@godofpizza: They'd call it Bravely Default III just to confuse as many people as possible.

              • +2

@dano: Probably calling it Bravely Third will be the most confusing

              • +4

@dano: Actually no. To get the most confusion
                - Call the sequel to Bravely Second, Bravely Default III
                - Launch another separate story in the world and call it Bravely Third
                - The sequel to the Bravely Default II will be called Bravely Second II

  • my 2 cents - worth every dollar, amazing game, lost hours to this! get it now!

Buy this on credit > Never pay off card > Bravely Default > Become the game.

    • Buy the sequel on another credit card > Never pay off card > Bravely Default a second time > Become the sequel.

  • +7

Xenoblade Chronicles & Dragon Quest XI > BD

    just my 2 cents

    • Story? Absolutely. Battle system is debatable. Especially the class system is very good.

  • I only bought this because I loved BD and BS so much.

  • I'm yet to get very far because I am busy, but what really impressed me with this game is that the devs sent a survey to everyone who finished the demo and made soooo many QoL changes based on feedback. Really impressive given many (esp. JP) devs don't take on feedback.

    • They did that with one as well.

The issue with this one is the story and characters are bland compared to the original cast and that in bravely second.

Why do so many Japanese games have names that look like they randomly picked two words out of the dictionary?

    • +1

      because it's sounds cool.

  • Just bought one last week for $59, can I email them and ask to refund the difference?

    • +1

They will tell you to buy again and refund the original. Assume this is amazon. Or they can make an exception. Just please to customer service

    • +2

If from Amazon, just use the chat and keep retrying until you get someone who'll refund you the difference.

      • +1

thank you Juniiz and Tallkid, I talked to the customer service in chat, got denied.

I called the customer service, they said looking from the log I have been denied, but the person happy to make a one time exception, got the difference :)

        • Now to do it again since Amazon has dropped the price to $39.

  • +2

This is now $39 @ Amazon!
