Bed Linen - Is Sheridan Worth The Money?

I am looking to get new bed linen and was looking at Sheridan initially. I noticed that the prices are quite high and everything is made in china.

Is Sheridan still considered a top tier bed linen company or are there better brands that offer better quality at a cheaper price? Can anyone recommend any Australian Made products as I would like to support the local companies.

I don't think there are any made in Australia anymore.

I've switched over from the top 1000 and 1200TC Sheridan to 1000TC Canningvale.

I have found them to be just as good or better than the current Sheridans at a lower price.

Only downside is that they are plain and don't have patterns that Sheridan has.

    Hi,
    Have a look @ https://australianmade.com.au/search/?type=site&value=linen
    for Australian Made.

  • We’ve recently bought quilt cover sets from Canningvale. Bamboo/cotton and linen/cotton. They’re good. Wife’s happy.

I only ever get Sheridan stuff when it's on a good discount at the outlets.
Can't say I have any issues with the quality as such but as said above, Canningvale are also good

Never buy Sheridan at full price. Always 30-40% off or more somewhere

No such thing as Australian made. We might grow the cotton and send it to China to weave into cloth and it will come back in rolls, cut and stitched here. Although you might want to choose alternatives made in India / Bangladesh as they are still democratic countries. Up to you.

  • I use the 300/400 TC sheridan. When bought on special it's excellent value, feels nice and lasts a long time.

Have bought Sheridan towels when discounted. Both me and my wife didn't like them

    • They are just a towel made of decent quality cotton - apart from the appearance what is there to not like?

      • I got some of the Ultra light ones once and they were terrible. No matter what I tried with washing them, they wouldn't absorb any water to dry you properly.
I like the Luxury Retreat ones though.

        • No idea about Sheridan UL, but the only ultralight towels I have ever used for hiking etc are like a car chamois - you're meant to wipe, wring, wipe, wring.

          • @lunchbox99: I know what you're talking about, these are a normal bath towel/sheet but supposedly made from Ultra thin cotton or something. These ones I'm pretty sure.
They were like when you don't wash new towels and they don't absorb anything but no matter how much we washed them, they wouldn't absorb anything.

Bed Linen - Is Sheridan Worth The Money

    Yes imho

Target, great value for money (especially 800+ thread count), don't let the brand turn you away. I've had my 1000tc sheet set for 10 years now and it's still as soft as ever.

Sheridan imho is now overpriced for pretty standard quality.

    • I bought some 'cotton rich' (didn't know what cotton rich mutant at the time, and didn't check the fabric label - stupid me) 1000 thread count queen bed sheets from target, they weren't discounted from $130 to $70. They pilled only after a couple of uses.

Based on some recommendations from OzBargainers I bought a set of queen sheets from Kmart for about $50. They are 40% bamboo 60% cotton. I've had them for several months and they are still going strong, no pilling or anything wearing at all.

      • Yeah anything that has viscose or polyester in i stay clear of.

All my sheets are 100% cotton and wouldnt settle for anything less

  • Yup, i only use the Abbotson Linen range :)

Only buy at 40% or more though :)

  • Overrated completely.

IKEA sell decent stuff, most importantly they also use snaps instead of IMO, stupid annoying buttons on doona covers.
