Decent Soundbar for Hisense 65Q8

So I recently bought a Hisense 65Q8 like everyone else in the universe.

The bass on the TV is too weak for my liking. I was using a Google Home Max before but plugging it in as "headphones" is annoying as the sound levels are all over the place.

I tried using bluetooth to connect but there is a noticible delay between the Home and TV that "lip sync correction" doesn't fix.

So i'm looking for a way to solve this OR better yet find a decent soundbar + sub that will bluetooth without fuss (i'm guessing/hoping that it's just the max wasn't built for it).

Any tips? What kinds of things should I be looking for (eARC, ATMOS?)

Thanks!

  • How much do you want to spend?
Under $200, the Yamaha YAS108B is a good buy

    • I'm not much of an audiophile. Decent sound, maybe wireless sub. If it's no fuss I'm in. I'd go up to 3-400ish depending on features

      Thanks I'll check it out.

      • Have a look at the Samsung HW-A450 which is pretty cheap around the place at the moment. Same price at Harvey, JB etc I believe. Gets an ok review from Rtings for the price. Otherwise the HW-T550 if you can find them, similar price and review.

The TCL 9030 is also pretty cheap with cashback. Again, seems to get an ok review for the price

  • I have Samsung soundbar and sub setup. i think it was around $400 and i feel that its more than ample. At times you could get a JBL soundbar package in Big W for a good price in their sales time.

  • +1, i'm in the market for soundbar with a wireless sub around the 400ish mark dolby/atmos would be a plus but not essential

  • I got a converter for optical digital tv output to analogue on the bay for $10 to plug in the Google home max. Sound is great but isn't controlled buy TV remote, gotta talk to the GHM or use remote on phone. Sound is great though, used it like this for a couple of years now. Can still plug in headphones if that's your thing. Sound can come through both TV and GHM or mute TV (or GHM) - whatever. I'm using panasonic TV. You have optical out, may have to set active in settings.

  • I'm currently also using my Google Home Max as a soundbar. What do you mean the sound volume is all over the place?

Does the TV volume affect the output signal to the Google Home Max?

    • Between the google home volume, the TV volume, the media volume and the headphone volume, we always seem to be either turning one of them all the way up or down.

Are you just doing headphone jack to aux?

I had this for my previous Kogan TV and the sound was atrocious but it also had annoyances like if you said "ok google, pause" and not "pause tv" it'd assume you wanted media paused which would kick it our of auxiliary and then it was a pain to go back. You don't have any of that?

      • I'm using TV RCAs to Google Home Max aux input. TV volume does not affect Google Home Max… we keep our TV volume on 0 so the only sound is coming from the Google Home Max.

If I was watching Netflix/Youtube on the TV via Google ChromeCast and said ok google, pause" it would pause, but wouldn't change out of Aux. I find Google Home Max pretty quick to switch from TV (aux) to say Spotify and vice versa.

  • Just got a Hisense 65q8 as a well waiting for it to come in now. Is a Sonos arc overkill? I'm not desperate for a soundbar at the moment so if there are going to better soundbar in the future I'd rather just hold off.

    • +1

I reckon Bing Lee has a better deal: https://www.binglee.com.au/tcl-ts9030-ray-danz-3-1-ch-atmos-…
$4 cheaper and instead of giving you a $100 gift card, they give you a $100 VISA card.

    • All the purchase links seem to be expired - what is the difference between these links and the regular JB HiFi link?

I'm also in the market, budget is around $200. Would the TCL be better than the Yamaha or Sony equivalents in this price range?

        • Thanks - I'll probably go the TS3090 - do the links give a discount or something? It's showing $399 online, would be keen on a link if there's a further discount to be had. The links are all dead right now.

  • Samsung A550

  • I've had the TS3090 for about a week now, very happy with it - highly recommended!

    • TCL 9030 rather
